Professor Seo said, "The only difference depending on a researcher's nationality is language," and noted, "Since engineers speak through the process and results of experiments, it is not a big problem even if their native languages are different." He added, "As long as we can communicate well with each other, the research team can move in a goal-oriented manner and work proceeds well." Professor Seo said, "When foreign researchers first come to Korea, there is an essential process they must go through," and explained, "It involves submitting documents to the immigration office to issue a residence card and opening a bank account, which would be very difficult to deal with for foreigners." He noted, "If locals help just a little, things work out much more easily." Professor Seo has personally gone to the immigration office with foreign students several times to assist with the residence card issuance process. He has also made phone calls to banks and visited branches together with international students. He said, "Now that I have gained experience, I can easily help out the difficulties of international students without much effort." Professor Seo emphasized, "The seemingly small favors from Koreans are a great help to foreign students."

He pointed out, "Just as Koreans are all different, the discomforts and inconveniences international students feel vary from person to person," and "Thinking of them collectively from a local's perspective would be the beginning of discrimination." Professor Seo emphasized, "We must move away from distinguishing between domestic and international students and recognize them all as one Hanyangian." He said, "Although Hanyang University competes for 1st or 2nd place in the country for the number of international students, their voices are not clearly heard because there are no events led by foreign students," and added, "School-level support is needed so that foreign members can actively participate in academic festivals or celebrations."

The MCREL research team plans to focus more intensively on carbon dioxide capture and conversion. Professor Seo said, "Each country has a greenhouse gas reduction quota, but so far there is no suitable solution," and explained, "We are conducting research to increase the reduction effect and secure industrial possibilities using our knowledge on chemical engineering."
