From 2:00 p.m., a full rehearsal was conducted with performers Jun Lee (20th), Ribeuga Park (21st), Kijun Sung (31st), Jaei Kim (35th), and Jiyoung Mok (33rd).

The main programs—including special lectures, the commemorative ceremony, and dinner—were held on the second floor of SAYU, while a commemorative performance celebrating the 20th anniversary took place on the sixth-floor outdoor terrace against the backdrop of Namsan and the night view of Myeong-dong. The performances, harmonizing with the urban scenery, left a lasting impression on attendees.

As alumni and students from doctoral and master’s programs began arriving after 3:00 p.m., the registration area grew increasingly busy. The atmosphere was further elevated by the arrival of Professor Emeritus Yongbeom Kim and Professor Emeritus Sangcheon Park, both of whom contributed to the founding of the department. At 4:00 p.m., with approximately 80 participants in attendance, the first official program of the anniversary celebration—the special lecture session—began.

The lecture session featured a talk on AI-driven content by Jihyun Kim, an alumna of the Convergence Industry Master’s Program, followed by a special lecture by Professor Emeritus Sangcheon Park, widely regarded as a spiritual mentor of the department. The official ceremony then opened with a performance by guitarist Dr. Jun Lee and haegeum player Jaei Kim. Congratulatory remarks followed from Dr. Jongsu Jeon (1st doctoral cohort) and Cheoljun Jung (5th Convergence Industry Master’s cohort), along with a congratulatory address by Professor Kenneth Chi Ho Kim, Head of the Graduate Program. Greetings from Professor Woonki Ko, Department Chair Professor Jin Lee, and Professor Sojeong Park resonated warmly with the audience. A reflective address marking the department’s 20-year history was delivered by Professor Emeritus Yongbeom Kim and Professor Kisoo Park, offering a meaningful retrospective on the department’s journey.

The highlight of the event was the presentation of Distinguished Service Awards, expressing gratitude and respect. Representing alumni and students, Dr. Changgi Lee (15th cohort) presented awards to Professor Emeritus Yongbeom Kim and Professor Emeritus Sangcheon Park. Additional awards were presented to Dr. Jongsu Jeon, the first alumni association president; Dr. Ilcheol Doo, the second president; and Cheoljun Jung, in recognition of their significant contributions to the alumni association over the past 20 years.
A performance by soprano Jiyoung Mok followed to enthusiastic applause. A toast proposed by Professor Youngjae Kim set the tone for the dinner, followed by additional toasts from Dr. Youngman Kim (2nd cohort) and Jihye Kim (39th Convergence Industry Master’s cohort). Amid lively conversation and laughter, the gathering grew to include approximately 120 alumni and students, bringing the celebration to its peak.

The second part of the event featured a series of performances. Ribeuga Park, Jun Lee, and Kijun Sung performed a repertoire aligned with the department’s academic vision, including Gochujamjari by Cho Yong-pil from the film Eojjeolsuga Eopda (lit. There Is No Other Way), a medley of Soda Pop and Golden from KPop Demon Hunters, and My Love by My Side from the drama Pokssak Sogatsuda. This was followed by a K-pop performance dance by Chaerin Lee of the Convergence Industry Graduate Program, a vocal performance by Jeongmin Ko of a composition by jazz pianist Kijun Sung, and a finale performance by the idol girl group iii, led by Chairman Dongseop Hwang, which further energized the audience.
