On August 26, a symposium was held at Hanyang University ERICA campus to celebrate the opening of the Graduate School Department of 위너 토토 Engineering.

The newly established Department of Aerospace Engineering, aimed at fostering practical and interdisciplinary talent in this emerging field vital to the nation’s competitiveness, promises a new leap forward by leveraging ERICA’s strengths in multidisciplinary integration.

ERICA seeks to lead next-generation space technology development by drawing from varied fields such as mechanics, electronics, data, materials, robotics, and geological exploration, preparing globally competitive talent by linking with international space research networks. Notably, this symposium was recognized as a starting point for promoting cooperation between academia and industry and for demonstrating Hanyang’s commitment to building its unique aerospace engineering identity.

The event featured congratulatory remarks from key figures in the field including Baek Dong-hyun, Vice President of ERICA; Choi Seung-chul, Director of Cultural Talent Development at the Korea 위너 토토 Administration; Yoo Chang-kyung, President of the Korean Society for Aeronautical and Space Sciences; Han Young-min, President of the Korean Society of Propulsion Engineers; and Dr. Lee So-yeon. Lee Sang-chul, President of the Korea 위너 토토 Research Institute, then delivered a keynote address presenting the vision and direction of the Korean space industry.

Notably, the collaboration with industrial figures was another cornerstone of the symposium. Invited speakers include Lee Joon-won, Head of the Space Division at Hanwha Aerospace; Cho Young-hoon, Committee Member of the Space Team at Korean Air’s Future Technology Development Center; and Shin Dong-yoon, CEO of Perigee Aerospace, who shared the current state of technological development and prospects for cooperation in private space industry.

Vice President Baek Dong-hyun stated in his congratulatory remarks, “The Department of Aerospace Engineering will harness ERICA’s strengths in multidisciplinary studies to generate practical research outcomes and industry linkages, becoming a hub of international competitiveness and next-generation space technology leadership.”

After the symposium, a laboratory tour was hosted by the faculty, during which Department Head Ryu Geun and Dean Choi Young-jin of the College of Engineering had in-depth discussions with participants. A poster session was also held to share the department’s practical research achievements.

Launched as a hub for talent development and technology advancement to lead the space era of Korea, ERICA’s Department of Aerospace Engineering is expected to contribute greatly to enhancing the nation’s competitiveness in space engineering through interdisciplinary research and global collaboration.
