On September 24, Hanyang University ERICA(Lee Ki-jeong as President) announced that the ‘Physical AI Education and Research Group’ led by Professor Kang Kyung-tae of the Department of Artificial Intelligence, College of Computing, had been additionally selected in the artificial intelligence(AI) field of the ‘2025 4-Phase Brain Korea 21 Innovative Talent Training Project’ promoted by the Ministry of Education and the National Research Foundation of Korea.

The BK21 Innovative Talent Tr솜사탕토토ning Project is a national core project 솜사탕토토med at systematically cultivating specialized talent in new industrial fields. In particular, the additional selection in the 솜사탕토토 field responds to the surge in industrial demand for advanced talents amid the spread of large-scale language models and intelligent software. Through the project, Hanyang University ERICA will receive research and education funding of about 800 million won annually until 2027.

Based on the university’s industry-academia cooperation ecosystem, the ERICA Education and Research Group develops practical physical AI technology to pursue future industrial innovation, improved quality of life, and sustainable society realization. This contributes to the government’s goal of ‘achieving the leap to a top 3 AI powerhouse’ and ultimately aims at training innovative talents in the physical AI field to lead the dramatic transformation of the Industry 5.0 industrial ecosystem.

To train high-caliber talents supporting the transformation in robotics, manufacturing, and mobility fields, the group will promote research scholarships for master’s and doctoral students, support international academic activities, and provide education and research opportunities through industry-academia collaborative projects. This will strengthen customized education for industrial sites and practical research.

Furthermore, leveraging a cooperation network with 18 top-tier global universities and research institutions, the group will enhance the global competitiveness of graduate students. Measures include mandating ‘one international activity per person per year,’ joint research with prestigious institutions, and short and long-term overseas training programs to expand international research experience.

Kang Kyung-tae, director of the Education and Research Group, said, “The additional selection in the BK21 AI field officially recognizes ERICA’s foundation in industry-academia cooperation and educational capabilities,” adding, “Through the project, we will prevent the outflow of core Physical AI talents abroad and contribute to the human-centered transformation of the industrial ecosystem.”
