The ‘Aeguk Hanyang Cheer Festival: Resonance,’ held from September 17 to 19, was the culmination of intense preparation. Behind the energetic performances at the festival stood the dedication of Hanyang University's cheer squad, RHooters, who went through countless rehearsals to perfect their stage. NewsH visited the team as they carried out final practice sessions at the outdoor theater — hours of sweat and coordination led by the team captain and vice-captain. Here's a glimpse into the effort behind the cheering.

Instead of pre-recorded audio, RHooters conducted full rehearsals with live band and vocals to practice synchronization with the band before the actual performance. The rehearsal held during coverage transformed into a successful performance on the evening of the 19th, the final day of the festival.

The squad is led by Cheer Captain Park Geon-woong(Department of Mechanical Engineering, Class of ’23). Park shared, “Just as this year's cheer theme states, ‘Hanyang United in Love,’ I hope this performance inspires students to reaffirm the spirit of ‘Love in Deed and Truth’ and to feel affection for both the university and one another.” RHooters concluded their performance with the school anthem, symbolizing community spirit and tradition within the Hanyang community.

When asked what message the cheer squad wanted to deliver through the performance, Park replied, “We've spent a year preparing for this stage, and I want to share the moment of unity with all students.” He added, “Next year, we plan to expand our activities beyond the main festivals to include more active cheering for sports games. Please look forward to what RHooters will bring in 2026.”As they await the moment when all of Hanyang will chant as one, RHooters continue to dedicate themselves with unwavering passion and effort.
