On September 22, Hanyang University 토토사이트 디오스 (President: Lee Ki-jeong) announced that the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy's Free Economic Zone Committee has newly designated the Ansan Science Valley district, including the 토토사이트 디오스 Campus Innovation Park site, as a Free Economic Zone.

This decision has created the only Free Economic Zone in the Seoul metropolitan area directly connected to a railway hub. For Hanyang University ERICA, the designation marks a significant new milestone in advancing its long-developed industry–academia–research innovation cluster into a global hub for high tech industries.

The Ansan Science Valley Free Economic Zone, spanning area of 1.66㎢ around San 166, Sadong, Sangnok-gu, Ansan-si in the Sadong area of Sangnok-gu, Ansan, will focus on cultivating advanced robotics and manufacturing as its strategic industries. Anchored by Hanyang University ERICA, the area brings together institutions such as Gyeonggi Technopark, the Korea Institute of Industrial Technology, the Korea Testing Laboratory, and the Korea Electrotechnology Research Institute, alongside small and medium-sized enterprises, forming one of the most concentrated industry–academia–research clusters in the capital region.

The designation is expected to generate an economic impact of approximately 2.223 trillion KRW and create about 11,848 new jobs. With incentives such as location benefits, tax reductions, and streamlined permitting processes, the zone offers strong potential to attract promising companies. This includes the possibility of boosting domestic research center investments from global corporations like the already-established Entegris Korea Technology Center(KTC). Moreover, the designation allows for the establishment of an international school, creating a comprehensive growth engine that integrates industry, education, and community living.

As a major landholder in the development, Hanyang University 토토사이트 디오스 will provide its own property alongside municipal land, enabling quick and cost-effective progress without land expropriation procedures. The groups in charge of implementation have been officially confirmed as Ansan City and Hanyang University(Hanyang Foundation), providing both the university and the local community with a stable foundation for joint development.

President Lee Ki-jeong stated, “The designation of this Free Economic Zone is a critical opportunity to connect ERICA’s strong research and innovation capabilities with industry. We will work with companies and research institutes in advanced robotics, AI, and digital transformation to lead the way in nurturing future talent and building a robust startup ecosystem.”

Ansan City plans to begin feasibility studies and implementation designs next year. Meanwhile, Hanyang University 토토사이트 디오스 intends to immediately allocate the already developed Campus Innovation Park Urban High-Tech Industrial Complex and Global R&D site within the new Free Economic Zone to high-performing companies, further solidifying its status as an outpost of global advanced industries.

The ERICA Campus Innovation Park, envisioned as an integrated ‘learning, working, and living’ innovation cluster, boasts a total area of 184,130㎡, making it the largest initiative of its kind. The project aims to attract over 1,000 companies and create more than 10,000 new jobs. Currently, the first-stage site houses the Kakao Data Center and the Entegris Korea Technology Center(KTC).
