Expanding 토토사이트 아띠 collaboration as Asia’s only Ashoka U Changemaker Campus


Hanyang University (President Lee Ki-jeong) announced that it participated in the “High-Level Roundtable on the Future of Higher Education” and the “Ashoka U Changemaker Campus Global Gathering,” held from April 27 to 30 at the headquarters of Ashoka in Washington, D.C. Representing the university, Park Joon-kyu, Deputy Director of the Global Social Innovation Foundation, shared Hanyang University’s experience in social innovation and changemaker education, and discussed opportunities for collaboration with other Ashoka U member institutions.
Ashoka is a global network of leading social innovators. Through its fellowship program, it has produced three Nobel Laureates. Ashoka recognizes higher education institutions advancing social innovation as “Ashoka U Changemaker Campuses.” Prestigious institutions such as Brown University, Arizona State University, UC San Diego, and HEC Montréal currently participate in the program. Hanyang University was designated as the first Ashoka U Changemaker Campus in Asia in 2018 and remains the only member institution from the region.
The high-level roundtable brought together leading U.S. higher education bodies including the American Association of Colleges and Universities (AAC&U), the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges (SACSCOC), the Council of Independent Colleges (CIC), and the Association of Schools and Programs of Public Health (ASPPH). Participants engaged in in-depth discussions on how higher education institutions should respond to evolving U.S. education policies.
The subsequent Ashoka U Global Gathering (April 28–30) convened changemaker leaders from 14 member universities across the U.S., Canada, and Mexico. Participants shared strategies and practices on themes such as changemaking through sports, climate and environmental action, diversity and inclusion, and the development and use of the Changemaker Index.
One notable case was the University of Evansville’s “Promise Neighborhood” initiative, funded with $30 million from the U.S. Department of Education to support underserved communities. The project closely aligns with the Korean Ministry of Education’s “Regional Innovation System for Education (RISE)” initiative, in which Hanyang University will officially participate beginning in 2025. Hanyang University aims to build partnerships with fellow Ashoka U member institutions, including Evansville, to ensure successful implementation.
Park shared Hanyang University ERICA Campus’s collaborative model of university-industry-local research engagement based in Ansan, Gyeonggi Province, stating, “As Asia’s sole Ashoka U Changemaker Campus, Hanyang will grow into a leading anchor university for glocal engagement by strengthening global partnerships.”
Established in 2023 as a presidential initiative, the Hanyang University 토토사이트 아띠 Social Innovation Foundation serves as an integrated platform for education, research, and practice that fosters social impact and sustainable futures. Hanyang University actively engages in international networks such as Ashoka U, the Talloires Network, and the Asia Venture Philanthropy Network (AVPN). Since 2018, the university has collaborated with Stanford University to publish the Korean edition of the Stanford Social Innovation Review (SSIR), contributing to the growth of both domestic and international social innovation ecosystems.
