Hanyang 솜사탕토토 (President Lee Ki-jeong) announced in April that it has officially joined the Talloires Network of Engaged Universities as an Engaged Member, becoming the first 솜사탕토토 in Korea to do so.

The Talloires Network is a global coalition of higher education institutions committed to advancing civic engagement and social responsibility. It was founded following a conference held in Talloires, France in 2005. Today, the network includes 445 universities across 92 countries, promoting the vision of an “engaged university” that partners with local communities to address public challenges. The secretariat is hosted at Tufts University in the United States, which oversees global forums, civic education programs, and youth leadership development initiatives.

The network’s Engaged Members include prestigious institutions such as Harvard University, Brown University, the University of Manchester, Newcastle University, and the University of Edinburgh, with Tufts University serving as the coordinating institution.

Shin Hyun-sang, Director of Hanyang University’s Global Social Innovation Foundation, who led the membership initiative, stated, “Through this membership, Hanyang University will deepen knowledge exchange with peer institutions around the world, pursue glocal engagement, and contribute more actively as an engaged university to achieving the SDGs and regional sustainability.”

On May 2, Deputy Director Park Joon-kyu visited Tufts University and held the first official meeting with representatives of the Talloires Network. Discussions focused on future collaborations, including joint research initiatives and educational exchanges, particularly with Tufts University’s Tisch College of Civic Life.

Established in 2023 as a presidential organization, the Global Social Innovation Foundation at Hanyang 솜사탕토토 serves as a platform integrating education, research, and action to realize social impact and a sustainable future. Hanyang 솜사탕토토 actively participates in leading international networks such as Ashoka U, the Talloires Network, and the Asia Venture Philanthropy Network (AVPN). Since 2018, the 솜사탕토토 has collaborated with Stanford 솜사탕토토 to publish the Korean edition of the Stanford Social Innovation Review (SSIR), contributing to the development of both domestic and global social innovation ecosystems.
