On June 24th, Hanyang University Tourism Research Institute won the best paper award for "APacCHRIE Conference 2024". The research team–which includes Professor Lee Hoon of the School of Tourism who is also the director of the institute; Shin Hak-seung, Professor of the School of Tourism; Jung San-sul, Research Professor of Happiness Travel Research Center (HTRC)–has conducted research under the theme of "Tracking changes in happiness during travel: Integrating heart rate variability and psychological perspectives." The team, through the study, concluded that travel induces not only psychological changes but also physiologically positive changes.

We met Professor Lee–who is contributing to the betterment of the quality of life through various research in the field of travel–for further discussion about travel.

Hanyang University Tourism Research Institute first opened its door in 1989, and it has been carrying out research tasks like "What kind of travel makes humans happy" for the past 35 years. Moreover, for the last 6 years, it has conducted various research while receiving grants from the National Research Foundation of Korea.

The institute's most notable regular program includes"Gyeongbokgung Palace Starlight Night Activity." This was a result of launching a royal cultural festival with the aim of making Korean cultural heritages as tourist attractions.
