Hanyang University’s Tourism Research Institute (Lee Hoon as Director) has been selected as a final recipient in the ‘2025 Humanities and Social Sciences Research Center Support Project’ organized by the Ministry of Education and the National Research Foundation of Korea. Out of a total of 259 projects, 38 were selected, with a 14% overall acceptance rate, with Hanyang University being the only recipient in the tourism and leisure sector.

The institute will receive approximately 1.8 billion KRW over a maximum of six years(three years and a possible renewal) to conduct research under the theme ‘How is technology transforming travel.’ The study aims to analyze the co-evolutionary relationship between humans and technology in a society where travel has become commonplace. Through the study, they intend to propose a new academic paradigm called the ‘Co-Evolutionary Tourism Experience Model(CoTEx)’ and contribute to building a sustainable and ethical tourism industry ecosystem.
