Professor Shin Heung-soo from the Department of Bioengineering at Hanyang University was honored with the ‘Outstanding Scientist Award’ at the '토토사이트 자유게시판 Engineering and Regenerative Medicine International Society – Asia Pacific Chapter(TERMIS-AP),' held from October 16 to 19 in Wuhan, China. The award is the highest recognition given to researchers who have demonstrated exceptional research achievements and academic leadership in the field of tissue engineering. Professor Shin was recognized for his pioneering contributions to the advancement of regenerative medicine across the Asia-Pacific region.

Professor Shin earned his Ph.D. in bioengineering from Rice University and conducted postdoctoral research at the Georgia Institute of Technology before joining Hanyang University. He currently leads the Biomaterials and 토토사이트 자유게시판 Engineering Laboratory(BMTL), where his team focuses on the design of biomaterials for 토토사이트 자유게시판 regeneration, stem cell-based regenerative therapeutics, and nanoparticle-based drug delivery systems.

His research has garnered international attention, particularly in areas such as cartilage-bone composite 토토사이트 자유게시판 regeneration, biodegradable smart patches, and three-dimensional 토토사이트 자유게시판 modeling using cell spheroids. Notably, Professor Shin is the only Korean engineering researcher to be selected as a fellow of both the 토토사이트 자유게시판 Engineering and Regenerative Medicine International Society(TERMIS) and the International Union of Societies for Biomaterials Science and 토토사이트 자유게시판(IUSBSE). He also serves as Editor-in-Chief of 토토사이트 자유게시판 Engineering Part B: Reviews and as an organizing committee member for numerous global scientific conferences, contributing significantly to international collaboration and academic exchange.

Reflecting on the award, Professor Shin stated, “This recognition is the result of the dedicated research efforts of my students and the collaboration of my fellow researchers. I will continue to focus on developing tissue engineering technologies that can make a real difference in treating patients suffering from degenerative diseases.”

TERMIS is the world’s largest academic organization in the field of tissue engineering and regenerative medicine, comprising three regional chapters: the Americas, Europe, and Asia-Pacific. Professor Shin’s recognition at this event highlights the global significance of his contributions and marks a milestone achievement for Korean research within the Asia-Pacific region.
