On the 25th, at the Main Administration Building of Hanyang University’s Seoul Campus, a memorial fund donation and Hall of Fame induction ceremony were held in honor of the late Chairman Shin Hyun-bu of Hanatex Co., Ltd. (Department of Textile Engineering(which is now Organic Nano Engineering), Class of ‘78). Attendees included the bereaved family of Chairman Shin, Hanatex executives, President Lee Ki-jeong, Vice President Kim Min-su, Director of External Relations Choi Joong-seop, and Department Chair Jung In-hwan of Organic Nano Engineering.

In his welcome address, President Lee Ki-jeong stated, “I would like to show appreciation to the bereaved family for making this generous contribution. The sorrow of suddenly losing the Chairman earlier this year must still be fresh, yet we are deeply grateful that you have shown such affection toward the university.”

Responding to these remarks, Mrs. Kim Sun-im, spouse of the late Chairman, said, “During his lifetime, Chairman Shin often said that he was able to build his business on the foundation of what he learned from his alma mater, and that he wanted to give back to the university. I would like to express my heartfelt gratitude for preparing this meaningful occasion and to everyone who joined us here today.”

Following the donation ceremony, the Hall of Fame induction was held on the first floor of the Main Administration Building. Through this contribution, Chairman Shin donated 100 million KRW and was registered in the “Silver Honor Club,” which recognizes donors of 100 million KRW or more. The development fund will be used to establish lecture rooms in the College of Engineering.
