Hanyang University (President Lee Ki-jeong) has been selected as the host university for the “2025 Lab-Based Startup Leading University” program, marking a significant step in establishing a university-driven startup ecosystem.

The program, jointly supported by the Ministry of Education and the Ministry of Science and ICT, is designed to promote entrepreneurship within universities by transforming outstanding laboratory research outcomes into technology-based 올림피아토토s. It also aims to foster an entrepreneurship-friendly culture on campus.

With this selection, Hanyang University will receive approximately KRW 1 billion in government funding annually for the next two years to accelerate the commercialization of research and enhance 올림피아토토 infrastructure.

Each year, Hanyang University plans to select around 20 pre-startup laboratories to provide structured support from the planning stage, including market validation and business model development. Among them, more than 10 labs will be nurtured as “innovation startup laboratories,” with the goal of leading to tangible entrepreneurial outcomes.

Selected labs will also receive comprehensive support through R&BD (Research and Business Development) funding, investment readiness programs, open innovation initiatives, and participation in global exhibitions. These efforts are expected to help research teams realize high-value-added entrepreneurship based on their scientific achievements.

Ahead of the program’s official launch, Hanyang University held a briefing session on April 7 at the COMAX Startup Town with professors and graduate students from the selected labs. The session covered the program background, detailed support measures, and annual schedule, followed by an active Q&A session addressing challenges that may arise during the startup preparation process.
