Unveils core technologies to address power shortages in data centers

Hanyang University ERICA DC Grid Energy Innovation Research Center(Professor Lee Bang-wook as Director), referred to as DC Grid, announced that it is taking a leap forward as a technology commercialization hub through the ‘Regional Industry-Linked University Open-Lab Nurturing Support Project.’

The Open-Lab Project, supported by the Ministry of Science and ICT and the Agency for Korea Leadership in Technology Commercialization, aims to transfer excellent public 토토사이트 러쉬 results to local companies and establish innovative models for technology commercialization through cooperation between universities and government-funded 토토사이트 러쉬 institutes.

Since its opening in 2023, DC Grid has been developing ‘High-speed DC Distribution Network Interruption Technology,’ centered around its HVDC(High Voltage Direct Current) Power Research Lab. Amid the recent surge in demand for AI data centers, the importance of high-density and high-power electrical infrastructure has risen sharply. DC Grid has strengthened its competitiveness by securing core technologies demanded by the industry, including bidirectional current interruption, transient voltage suppression, high-speed response characteristics, and verification of feasibility for actual grid application.

Notably, the research achievements of DC Grid were highlighted during the ‘Hanyang ERICA Tech Show 2025(HES 2025)’ held at the ERICA Campus last November. At the ‘KERICA Symposium,’ co-hosted with the Korea Electrotechnology Research Institute(KERI), the research direction and industrial impact of next-generation DC-based power technology were shared. Then, the DC Grid Annual Conference followed during which the latest global research trends in DC power grid technology were discussed in depth.

Director Lee Bang-wook explained, "Through the Open-Lab project, we were able to directly identify technological demands from local companies and check the practical feasibility of applying DC power technology. Moving forward, we will expand this technology to various industrial fields, such as electric vehicle charging and renewable energy facilities, as well as data centers, to contribute to solving regional power issues."

The Hanyang University ERICA Industry-University Cooperation Foundation plans to continue expanding the Open-Lab project to build an industry-academic-토토사이트 러쉬 cooperation ecosystem where local industries and university laboratories grow together, while steadily strengthening regional-based technology commercialization capabilities.
