Hanyang University ranked 24th in Asia's overall ranking and 6th in Korea, the same ranking as 2021. By index, the "Employer Reputation" index scored the highest with 93.4, followed by the "Inbound Exchange" with 92.6 points and the "Faculty Student Ratio" per professor with 92.5. As an indicator of the increase, the "International students" scored 84.1, an increase of 8.5 points from the previous year. On the other hand, due to the new coronavirus infection (COVID-19) pandemic, the "Outbound exchange rate" seems to have fallen from last year's highest score of 99.8 to 87.2.
Meanwhile, three out of four Korean universities (74%) have fallen in rank compared to last year, deepening concerns over weakening university competitiveness. In an article related to the “Chosun Ilbo”, Bae Young-chan, Hanyang University's professor of the Department of Chemical Engineering, said, "The government has not come up with any measures." He added, "If we neglect university reform as it is this way, we will fall further behind in science and technology fields such as semiconductors, which are the basis of national competitiveness."
