On December 10, the research team led by Professor Kim Ji-won of the School of Defense Intelligence and Information Convergence Engineering at Hanyang University ERICA announced that they have successfully achieved a stable high output of over 1 kW using an ultra-fast femtosecond 토토사이트 악성코드 that emits light for one-trillionth of a second. This achievement is drawing significant attention as it greatly increases the possibility of domesticating high-power femtosecond 토토사이트 악성코드 technology, which is utilized in various fields such as ultra-precision machining, semiconductor manufacturing, and national defense.

Existing femtosecond 토토사이트 악성코드 technology is already widely used in cutting-edge precision industries like semiconductors and displays, including glass processing, semiconductor substrate processing, and OLED film processing, due to its excellent ability to process materials without generating heat. However, it faced limitations such as the difficulty of high power operation, lower stability compared to continuous-wave 토토사이트 악성코드s, and the bulky nature of the overall system.

To overcome such technical limitations, Professor Kim's team developed a fiber-based femtosecond 토토사이트 악성코드 system capable of satisfying both the efficiency of high-power CW 토토사이트 악성코드s and the high peak power characteristics of femtosecond 토토사이트 악성코드s. The developed 토토사이트 악성코드 provides an instantaneous output of reaching 800 kW for approximately 360 femtoseconds at an average power level of 1.1 kW. Since the entire system is fiber-based, it simultaneously secures the advantages of high stability and miniaturization.

This level of technology regarding femtosecond 토토사이트 악성코드s has been reported by only a very small number of advanced research groups worldwide. Distinguishing it from previous studies, it is technically significant because it operates stably even in the 1030 nm wavelength range, ensuring high compatibility with industrial amplifiers and various equipment.

Previously, in 2022, the research team developed Korea's first 3 kW-class continuous-wave high-power fiber 토토사이트 악성코드 through joint research with the Korea Institute of Industrial Technology(KITECH). This latest achievement proves that a world-class femtosecond 토토사이트 악성코드 platform can be implemented domestically. It confirms the potential for expansion into various fields, including ultra-precision machining, semiconductor material processing, 3D glass processing, and defense 토토사이트 악성코드 systems.

Professor Kim Ji-won stated, "This achievement is a signal that Korean research has reached a world-class level in high-performance fiber-based ultra-high-power laser technology. It will develop into a core technology that leads innovation in the semiconductor, precision machining, and defense sectors in the future."

This research was conducted with support from the Materials and Components Technology Development Program of the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy, and the Institutional Research Program of the Korea Institute of Machinery and Materials(KIMM). Using gain fibers provided by Taihan Fiberoptics Co., Ltd., the research team enhanced the degree of completion of the technology. The research results were presented at the 35th Photonics Conference held on November 26, winning the Outstanding Paper Award.

In the paper, ‘All-fiberized polarization-maintaining Yb fiber femtosecond laser with 1.06 kW output,’ doctoral students Park In-cheol and Park Eun-kyung participated as the first author and contributing author, respectively, with Professor Kim Ji-won serving as the corresponding author.
