Hanyang University Industry-University Cooperation Foundation announced the selection of ‘Researchers of the Month’ in the Publications category for October 2025, including Professor Park Hui-joon(Department of Organic and Nano Engineering), Professor Lim Young-hyo(College of Medicine, Department of Internal Medicine), and Professor Lee Hoon(Department of Tourism). The three professors garnered academic attention for their outstanding research achievements across diverse fields, including stabilizing perovskite electronic devices, developing wireless implantable medical sensor technology, and analyzing changes in level of happiness from nature-based tourism experiences(listed in Korean alphabetical order by names of the professors).
Professor Park Hee-joon, Department of Organic and Nano Engineering
◆ Non-volatile methylammonium chloride substitution for tin halide perovskite transistors
Professor Park Hui-joon's paper was published in the SCI-E-indexed international journal Nature Electronics (2024 IF 40.9). This study successfully realized high-performance P-type devices, considered a major challenge in the field of next-generation semiconductors, using environmentally friendly tin-based perovskite. The research team fundamentally resolved issues related to oxidation and thin-film quality degradation, achieving world-class performance. Furthermore, the technology demonstrated industrial applicability, as it is projected to secure over 10 years of stability when combined with conventional OLED encapsulation processes.
Professor Lim Young-hyo, Department of Internal Medicine, College of Medicine
◆A wireless, implantable sensor for continuous monitoring of blood leakage after endovascular aneurysm repair
Professor Lim Young-hyo's paper was published in the SCI-E-indexed international journal Science Advances (2024 IF 12.5). The study originated from the question of whether it is possible to easily and conveniently detect ‘endoleaks’ (blood leakage), a long-term fatal complication that can occur after stent-graft procedures for aortic aneurysm patients.
Through joint research with Professor Jung Yei-hwan's team from the Department of Electronic Engineering, they proposed the ultrathin wireless implantable sensor designed to be attached to the stent surface to detect blood inflow via an electrical signal. The sensor operated stably for a long period without interfering with the stent's function. It is expected to increase the possibility of early detection and treatment upon future clinical application.
Professor Lee Hoon, Department of Tourism
◆ Longitudinal analysis of happiness changes in nature-based travel
A paper Professor Lee Hoon of the Department of Tourism participated in was published in the SSCI-indexed international journal Annals of Tourism Research (2024 IF 7.8). Through this study, Professor Lee analyzed the effect of travel on happiness over time. Using surveys and Heart Rate Variability (HRV) measurements, the study longitudinally verified emotional and physiological changes in happiness during the pre-travel, travel, and post-travel stages. It confirmed that nature-based travel has a positive impact on reducing tourists' physiological stress and enhancing psychological well-being. By integrating physiological and psychological response data, the study holistically presented the mechanism of travel happiness. This analysis is significant as it expands the scope of travel experience research beyond conventional studies often focused on a single point of view.
Moving on, Professor Han Kyung-sik at the Department of Data Science was selected as the 'Researcher of the Month' in the R&D category for October 2025.
Professor Han Kyung-sik, Department of Data Science
◆ 첨단산업 AI인재양성부트캠프사업 Advanced Industry AI Talent Nurturing Bootcamp Project
Professor Han was selected for the Advanced Industry Talent Nurturing Bootcamp project, organized by the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy and supported by the Korea Institute for Advancement of Technology(KIAT). The project aims to cultivate specialized talent equipped with the skills to understand, develop, and apply industrial AI and data.
In the program, AI technology training programs linked to application cases across various industries are offered jointly with support of practice-oriented education programs, including industry-academia connected courses and projects, field training, and hackathons. Faculty members from the Department of Data Science, School of Computer Science, Department of Automotive Engineering, and the Institute for Software Convergence, along with representatives from leading domestic companies, are bound to participate in the programs.
