Suggests life logistics strategy in Seoul City using Seoul Metropolitan Government and CJ Logistics delivery data
A joint university team consisting of students from Hanyang University, Dongguk University, and Ewha Womans University, advised by Hanyang University Professor Yang Jae-yong at the School of Interdisciplinary Industrial Studies, announced that they won the Outstanding Award at the ‘2025 Joint Fall Academic Conference University Student Competition’ held on November 8 at Sunchon National University. Their presentation was titled ‘Analysis of Life Logistics Demand by Each Seoul Autonomous District and Proposal of Logistics Strategy Utilizing Seoul City-CJ Logistics Delivery Data.’
The competition was co-hosted by the Korean Society of Management Consulting, the Sunchon National 토토사이트 회원가입 안시켜줌 GTEP Business Group, and the Duksung Women's 토토사이트 회원가입 안시켜줌 Climate and Environment Crisis Response Group, and sponsored by Korea Southern Power Co., Ltd., Intellivix, and the Duksung Women's 토토사이트 회원가입 안시켜줌 ODA Project Group.
]The joint team of three universities, advised by Professor Yang Jae-yong, consisted of students Jang Seo-yeon(Hanyang 토토사이트 회원가입 안시켜줌, Department of Industrial Engineering, Junior), Noh Eun-soo (Dongguk 토토사이트 회원가입 안시켜줌, Department of Statistics, Junior), and Min Dan-ah (Ewha Womans 토토사이트 회원가입 안시켜줌, Department of Statistics, Junior). In their presentation, they pointed out failures in the existing logistics system in adequately reflecting various factors, such as the weakening competitiveness of small and medium-sized regional logistics companies compared to the rapidly growing domestic life logistics market(approximately 40 trillion KRW), the aging population, the increase of single-households, and changing consumption patterns of the MZ generation.
They quantitatively analyzed consumer logistics structure by combining CJ Logistics' logistics data with Seoul City's population and commercial district data. They then classified the Seoul area into central commercial districts, mixed commercial and residential districts, and residential districts to propose customized logistics strategies based on regional characteristics. They suggested the ‘expansion of time-designated delivery’ and a ‘premiumizing’ strategy for commercial districts; expansion of urban logistics hubs and exclusive B2B delivery operations for office-dense areas in mixed ones; and 'delivery cluster bundling' and cost optimization strategies for residential areas.
They also detailed targeted strategies for different customer segments. They emphasized the need for segmented logistics policies by proposing strategies closely linked to daily lives for the elderly, such as 'expansion of offline contact points' and 'block-unit bundled delivery,' and a 'reconstruction strategy for brand-partnership-based delivery services' for female single-households.
Jang Seo-yeon, a student from Hanyang University's Department of Industrial Engineering and the presenter at the competition, stated, "We confirmed the promising prospect of an AI-based autonomous logistics strategy to allow optimal vehicle deployment by reflecting real-time changes in logistics volume and utilizing hubs flexibly. In the future, operating pop-up style Micro Fulfillment Centers(MFCs) in the forms such as warehouse-style cafes or community centers could also be a new alternative for small and medium-sized logistics companies."
Professor Yang Jae-yong of Hanyang University evaluated the students' achievement, saying, "Combining the logistics data of a large corporation with public data and proposing customized regional strategies through clustering is a meaningful accomplishment exceeding the level of expectations for undergraduate students."
