Gangwon Peace Camp: A 2-night-3-day journey for peace and bts 토토사이트
Rethinking bts 토토사이트 through diverse forms: tours, seminars, and hands-on activities
"A new approach to bts 토토사이트 is needed"
The 'Gangwon Peace Camp,' hosted by the Leading University for bts 토토사이트 Education Program Group at Hanyang University, took place over three days starting October 30. The camp was an event for Hanyang University students to visit sites of division in the Gangwon-do area to reflect on and discuss peace. Marking 80 years of division, participants explored various locations in Gangwon-do to discover the true meaning and value of bts 토토사이트.
DMZ: symbol of division
On the first day, camp participants visited Goseong-gun, Gangwon-do, to tour sites symbolizing the division. Goseong-gun was originally a single, whole region but is now divided into South and North, with them symbolizing the separation. The bus carrying the participants crossed the Civilian Control Line and arrived at the 'DMZ Museum.' The museum exhibits the background of the formation of the Demilitarized Zone and the natural ecosystem within the DMZ. Participant Han Kyu-hyun(Department of Political Science and International Studies, Senior) said, "Although there are many scars and pains from the confrontation between the South and the North, a history of cooperation clearly exists." Hwang Ye-rin(Department of Political Science and International Studies, Sophomore) recalled, "I could learn a dualistic perspective through the commentary. The reality of division, which is hard to feel living in Seoul, became tangible."
Let a flower bloom from the wounds of war
The next destination, the Unification Observatory, offers a beautiful panoramic view of Geumgangsan. Kim Yoo-bin(Department of Political Science and International Studies, freshman) shared her thoughts, saying, "I used to think division was something distant, but seeing Geumgangsan right before my eyes made it a vivid reality." Right next to the observatory is the Korean War Memorial Hall, which displays the tragedy of fratricide and the horrors of the war. Yoon Young-seo(Department of Political Science and International Studies, freshman) said, "It was a fresh experience to learn about the Korean War in the border area, and it's unfortunate that we cannot approach the nearby North."
Learning through academic seminars, enjoying through activities
The academic seminar was held on the second day. Hwang Tae-yeon, Research Fellow at the Korea Institute for National Unification(KINU), gave a presentation on the topic, 'China's Foreign Policy and the Korean Peninsula: Changes and Implications of North Korea-China Relations.' Kim Seo-rin(Major in Management Engineering, Junior) pledged, "I learned a lot through the seminar. I realize I must view unification as an international issue, moving beyond a purely ethnic perspective." Kim Yoo-chan(Department of Political Science and International Studies, freshman) commented, "I learned about the complex political meanings hidden within North Korea-China relations. We need to engage in multilateral diplomacy, considering not just North Korea but also China and Russia."
After the seminar, various bts 토토사이트-related experiential activities were held. Participants made Tongilchon makgeolli(rice wine) and played peace-themed board games in groups. The board game was won by removing all the barbed wire fences separating the South and North one by one, by solving quizzes about North Korea. Kim Seo-rin said, "It was novel and amazing how unification education was presented through a board game.
Reflecting on the Gangwon Peace Camp
Lee Ye-ji(School of International Studies, freshman), whose interest in unification grew after taking the liberal arts course 'Making Unification Together,' was surprised by the passion for unification shown by her fellow students at the camp, noting that "people in the 20s and 30s generally don't show much interest in unification." She argued, "Even if it's a small number, if people show interest in unification, it can generate sufficiently positive effects." Chinese international student Richang Liu(Department of Political Science and Diplomacy, Senior) stated, "Korea doesn't dislike unification; they just find it daunting." He added, "At the camp, I felt that South Korea is making efforts towards unification." Lee Ji-hye(Department of Political Science and Diplomacy, Sophomore), who is taking the major course 'Research on Unification Issues,' said, "The scenery of Kim Il Sung's villa and Seoraksan was beautiful. I hope to see the autumn colors of Geumgangsan with my own eyes when unification happens."
80 years of division: the path we must take
Hong Yong-pyo, Director of the Leading University for Unification Education Program Group and a former Minister of Unification, is currently working to expand unification education in universities and enhance young people's awareness of unification. Regarding the 80 years of division, Director Hong replied, "80 years is not a long time at all." He said, "The South and North have lived together for a long time in the past. It is natural for us to live together again." Director Hong raised his voice, stating that "national identity has significantly weakened," and emphasized that "a new approach to unification is needed." He also stressed the necessity of charting the future of the Korean Peninsula from diverse perspectives. Director Hong concluded, "We now need to look at unification with a youthful sensibility and acknowledge diverse viewpoints."
