Hanyang University has produced a total of 107 scholars listed in '2025 World’s Top 2% Scientists,' jointly announced by Stanford University and Elsevier, ranking 6th among domestic universities in the career-long category.

The assessment, based on data from the world’s largest academic database, Scopus, evaluates researchers’ academic influence using six indicators, including the number of citations, h-index, and authorship position.

The World’s Top 2% Scientists list is divided into two categories: career-long and single-year performance. The career-long category assesses the cumulative achievements of researchers from the start of their academic careers, serving as a key measure of a university’s long-term research capacity. Hanyang University’s high ranking reaffirms its position as a leading research-intensive institution built on decades of sustained academic excellence.

This year’s list includes scholars representing a wide range of disciplines—from engineering and medicine to economics, business, design, and environmental science—highlighting Hanyang’s balanced and diverse research ecosystem. The university’s emphasis on interdisciplinary collaboration and synergy-driven research has been instrumental in broadening its academic foundation.

In the single-year category, which evaluates research achievements for the whole year of 2024, 138 Hanyang researchers were included, again placing the university 6th nationwide. This demonstrates not only its long-term capability in research but also its dynamic support for emerging scholars and continuous academic growth—an indicator of its stable and sustainable research competitiveness.
