The smart industry refers to sectors that improve efficiency and productivity across various domains—manufacturing, agriculture, healthcare, logistics—by leveraging advanced technologies such as AI, big data, IoT, and ICT. At SIL, Jung and his team initially focused on senior industries and smart agriculture, and more recently, they have turned their attention to food tech.

In 2010, as Jung approached retirement, he foresaw that the dual forces of the fourth industrial revolution and hyper-aging would create profound uncertainty for Korea’s future. To prepare for these seismic shifts, he began research on senior industries and smart agriculture.

Recently, SIL expanded its focus to include food technology, publishing T토토사이트 포에버 Food Tech Revolution in t토토사이트 포에버 Food Industry in January 2024 and offering consulting services in t토토사이트 포에버 agricultural sector. In April 2025, t토토사이트 포에버 institute released AI Technologies and Applications in response to t토토사이트 포에버 rapidly advancing AI era. SIL operates on three core principles: the pioneer spirit, the creative spirit, and the nomad spirit. The nomad spirit, in particular, embodies the institute’s ethos of moving from one issue to the next, making it highly adaptive to today’s fast-changing environment.

The senior industry refers to products and services tailored to the needs of the elderly. Anticipating Korea’s entry into a super-aged society, Jung emphasized the importance of fostering this industry early on through columns and lectures. However, at the time, most people failed to recognize the urgency of the issue.

“Despite Korea having one of the fastest-aging populations in the world, there is still a lack of awareness about the importance of the senior industry,” he explained. “We now have more than three times as many seniors as infants, yet there are few recognized companies or products targeting this group.”

“AI has been in development for a long time, and now it’s finally coming into the spotlight,” Jung explained. “The future of AI is just beginning, and adopting cutting-edge AI technologies is no longer optional—it’s a survival strategy.” He believes individuals must find ways to integrate AI into their fields and pioneer more creative and efficient applications.

“As AI becomes deeply embedded in all aspects of life and industry, it’s crucial to understand it at a fundamental level—not just use it superficially.”

However, many current AI books are too narrowly focused. To address this, Jung authored AI Technologies and Applications, a compre토토사이트 포에버nsive guide reflecting his long-standing commitment to AI research.

SIL’s latest area of interest is food tech. According to the Korea Foodtech Council, Korea’s food tech market is valued at 600 trillion won, with the global market reaching 4 quintillion won—roughly 50 times the size of the semiconductor industry.

In the 21st century, humanity faces critical food-related challenges. As populations grow, so does demand for food, yet the supply—especially protein—remains limited.
