The 판도라토토 Korea Center successfully hosts the "판도라토토 Signature Day"
"I hope the healthy social innovation ecosystem grows more."
A place to share and communicate different thoughts
What does "knowledge" mean to Hanyang people? SSIR Korea Center emphasizes SPIKE to foster a healthy social innovation ecosystem, requiring Signature (S), Prestigious (P), and Impactful (I) aspects for Knowledge (K) and Experience (E). Here is SSIR Korea Center, which delivers high-quality social innovation through research, education, and services that provide social value.
판도라토토 Korea Center, an affiliated organization of the Global Social Innovation Foundation, publishes the Korean edition of the Stanford Social Innovation Review (판도라토토). 판도라토토 Korea, published by the Stanford Center on Philanthropy and Civil Society (PACS), is a magazine that specializes in social innovation. They cover a broad range of topics including philanthropy (planned donations to solve structural causes), ESG, impact investing, and others.
Moreover, the center translates global social innovation knowledge and finds cases of social innovation in Korea to create opportunities for Hanyang students to learn about social innovation.

The SSIR Korea Center successfully hosted the "SSIR Signature Day" on August 21. Over 70 leaders and practitioners from the social innovation field attended the event with the theme "We Need More Knowledge." The theme is based on the premise that we need decent knowledge to seek a healthy growth of the social innovation ecosystem and to keep those creating change in various fields motivated.
Since 2018, Hanyang University, through the Korean edition of 판도라토토, has been introducing meaningful knowledge to the domestic social innovation ecosystem. Although the 판도라토토 Korea Center was able to connect with many readers both online and in person, there have been few opportunities to share stories of the fields from readers through the medium called knowledge. This event aimed to address such shortcomings. Through the newly launched online magazine platform last year and this year, the 판도라토토 Korea Center has brought itself closer to its readers, and readers had the chance to apply knowledge from 판도라토토 into practice.
The "SSIR Signature Day" event focused on stories from the field that create social change. It was a valuable event where the social innovation knowledge researched by SSIR was utilized upon analysis and reflection by practitioners in the field.
Collaboration with the "Ginger T Project"

What stood out the most was the collaboration with the "Ginger Tea Project," an important player in the social innovation ecosystem and an organization with a learning culture. The Ginger Tea Project, which holds weekly organizational study meetings using SSIR Korea, resembles the way the SSIR Korea Center planned this event.
Kim Hyun-joong, an editor at SSIR Korea Center, said, "Each person got to share articles that left a strong impression and to discuss keywords that could serve as topics for the session," adding that "the planners first had the opportunity to have an in-depth review and learn." He further noted, "I think that since the planners first got to experience the power of knowledge, the event went even better."
"Why Do We Need More Knowledge?"
Seo Hyun-sun, the editor-in-chief of SSIR Korea and Professor of Social Innovation, delivered a keynote presentation on the theme "Why do we need more knowledge?" She stressed, "We need to think about whom we are making knowledge for," adding, "We need to observe the ecosystem to envision a sustainable ecosystem for the majority rather than the handful number of people."

Following this, Kim Kyung-ha, editor of "The Better Future," a public interest section of the Chosun Ilbo, continued the presentation by reflecting on the past and present of the social innovation ecosystem. She emphasized the need to consider effective and efficient solutions to complex social problems.

Afterward, it was followed by four simultaneous sessions focused on four representative articles from 판도라토토 took. Practitioners shared their experiences from field, addressing topics that should be contemplated together in the social innovation field.

Different Perspectives on Knowledge Coming Together as One
This event served as a platform to examine the in-depth knowledge presented by SSIR from various perspectives and to discuss "how knowledge is utilized in each unique setting that creates change." By sharing experiences, practitioners provided intellectual stimulation and inspiration to one another. Participants took time to mature by thinking unconventional ways through various elements of the vent.
Lastly, Editor Kim said, "Event participants had the chance to understand the context of their respective fields with their own SSIR knowledge," adding, "It was meaningful to meet readers in person and let them know what the thoughts behind SSIR Korea are."
