The Samsung doctoral scholarship system is known internally as highly selective and rigorous to be chosen. Professor Chang said, “Having six students selected simultaneously from a single lab is a significant achievement supporting the strong connection between education, research systems, and industry demands. Our 20 years of varied industry-academic cooperation with Samsung Electronics have provided fertile ground for student development.”

Win-Win Model: Close Col토토사이트 사고 팔고oration between ASML 토토사이트 사고 팔고 and Samsung Electronics

The collaboration between ASML Lab and Samsung Electronics started in 2006. The lab has continued industry-academic cooperation with various Samsung divisions including SAIT (Samsung Advanced Institute of Technology), Samsung Research, MX Division, Consumer Electronics Division, and DMC Research Center. Notably, the Samsung Research Funding & Incubation Center for Future Technology(RCFT) marked a pivotal moment for the ASML lab. Professor Chang said, “Through discussions and research at RCFT, we shared the future direction of key technologies. The lab’s accumulated strength in voice and audio signal processing is closely aligned with future strategy of the company.”

Moreover, formal cooperation with the MX Division began about five years ago. Professor Chang explained, “At that time, the need for next-generation voice and audio AI technology optimized for smartphones and wearable devices was growing, and the lab’s expertise met this need, which enabled us to advance strategic industry-academic joint projects.” Since then, ASML Lab and Samsung MX Division have jointly conducted forward-looking research on E2E(end-to-end) speech recognition, multimodal dialogue intelligence, and advanced voice foundation models, building a close research ecosystem.

“The biggest benefit a university lab can gain from industry collaboration is about training talents who are capable of tackling and solving real industrial problems,” Professor Chang said. “Graduates from ASML Lab actively contribute as researchers at Samsung Electronics, Samsung Research, Hyundai Motor Company, LG Electronics, Kakao, and other major companies.” He added, “From the industry’s perspective, securing verified talent in advance is an advantage. Ultimately, industry-academia collaboration is a ‘win-win model’ fostering mutual growth, and this trend represents the most substantial outcome of such partnerships.”

ASML 토토사이트 사고 팔고: Practical Research and Distinctive Competitiveness

ASML Lab pursues both core technologies and industry-demanded technologies simultaneously, striving for practical research that encompasses real problem-solving beyond academic inquiry. Students develop hands-on skills by directly addressing field challenges through industry-academic cooperative projects. Professor Chang said, “About 40 students work cooperatively in our lab, in teams focused on signal processing, speech synthesis, recognition, multimodal systems, and dialogue intelligence. The process of cooperative research naturally fosters interdisciplinary research among students. This structure is the driving force behind the lab’s differentiated competitiveness.”

The lab puts emphasis on sincerity and fundamental skills when hiring students. Professor Chang emphasized, “AI and electronic engineering research require long-term dedication and persistence, making a sincere attitude the most crucial virtue. Fundamental knowledge in signal processing, linear algebra, statistics, and programming is essential for advanced research success.” He added, “Problem-solving ability, curiosity, collaboration, and communication skills with other researchers from diverse backgrounds are also vital.”

Carrying on, the ASML lab plans to further focus on large language models(LLM), multimodal research, generative audio and speech models, robotics-based speech intelligence, and next-generation acoustic signal processing technologies. Professor Chang highlighted, “The ultimate goal of the lab is to implement AI interfaces enabling more natural communication between humans and machines.”

“I would like to contribute to a more convenient Life through AI technology,” Kyung Je-hyun from ASML Lab

Kyung Je-hyun, selected as a doctoral scholarship student for Samsung Electronics MX Division and a student in the Master-Doctorate integrated course in Department of Electronics Engineering, said, “ASML Lab conducts research reflecting the latest trends in voice and audio AI, publishing multiple outstanding papers annually. Under Professor Chang’s guidance, I have published a first-author SCI Q1 journal paper and seven AI conference papers, which substantially and positively influenced the scholarship application process.”

Kyung graduated from Hanyang University’s Department of Biomedical Engineering in the School of Electrical and Biomedical Engineering. He explained, “The knowledge gained from my undergraduate courses helped me devise new research ideas. In particular, the Introduction to AI course was a critical foundation for entering the lab and conducting current research.”

Currently, Kyung is conducting research on speech and emotion recognition using AI-based voice signals. After graduation, he plans to work at Samsung Electronics MX Division developing the AI-based voice recognition platform ‘Bixby.’ He expressed his aspiration, “I want to contribute to developing innovative AI technologies for Samsung Galaxy smartphones so that many people can enjoy more convenient and useful lives.”

To juniors aspiring to research in AI and electronic engineering, Kyung advised, “AI will continue to be one of the most important technologies, so it is essential to build a solid foundation in undergraduate studies.”

Professor Chang also advised, “In AI and electronic engineering research, fundamental skills such as signal processing, linear algebra, probability and statistics, and programming are more important than flashy application skills. If you have big dreams and keep challenging yourself steadily, you will surely achieve valuable results.”
