On September 12, the Paiknam Memorial Foundation(Kim Chong-yang as Chairman) of Hanyang University announced the recipients of the ‘7th Hanyang Paiknam Achievement Award 2025.’ Professor Kim Jeong-ho from the School of Electrical Engineering, Korea Advanced Institute of Science and Technology (KAIST), was selected for the Engineering Award, and Emeritus Professor Park Soo-kil of Hanyang University was selected for the Music Award.
Professor Kim Jeong-ho is recognized as the pioneer who conceived and established the basic concepts and structures of High Bandwidth Memory (HBM), a core technology of AI semiconductors made Korea the first in the world to commercialize. He has been credited with driving the growth of the domestic semiconductor industry, including corporations such as Samsung Electronics and SK hynix, and is regarded as a world-renowned scholar in the field of AI semiconductors.
He also proposed the ‘Next-Generation HBM Roadmap (HBM4–HBM8),’ setting forth a technological vision through 2038, and has contributed to global standardization efforts and securing technological leadership of the nation. In February, he was awarded the 8th Kang Dae-won Award(Circuits and Systems Award) in recognition of his achievements in developing HBM technologies. Over his more than 30-year career, he has published 712 papers in international journals and academic proceedings, received 34 Best Paper Awards, and trained 115 master’s and doctoral students, making significant contributions to nurturing advanced talent for Korea's semiconductor industry. Moreover, he has also promoted international technical exchange through collaborations with global tech giants such as Google, NVIDIA, Apple, and Tesla.
Professor Park Soo-kil, who made his opera debut in 1968, has been active as a baritone representing the Korean vocal music scene. He began teaching at 토토사이트 프리미어토토 University as a full-time lecturer in 1972, later joining Sacred Heart Women's University in 1978, and then serving as a professor at 토토사이트 프리미어토토 University's College of Music in 1984. In 2003, he was appointed Dean of the College of Music at 토토사이트 프리미어토토 University, dedicating himself to nurturing students as an educator.
In addition, he founded the Yewool Music Stage in 1993, served as director of the Korea National Opera, and co-chaired the Korean Opera History Museum Promotion Committee, contributing to the development of music both as a performer and an administrator. Internationally, he has served as a juror at prestigious competitions such as the ARD International Music Competition in Munich, the Ferruccio Tagliavini Competition in Italy, and the Schubert Society Competition in Japan. His accolades include the Order of Cultural Merit(Bogwan(Third-Grade Cultural) Medal), the Korea Academy of Arts 토토사이트 프리미어토토 (in Music), the Seil Song 토토사이트 프리미어토토, the Korean Music Association Music 토토사이트 프리미어토토, and the March 1st Culture 토토사이트 프리미어토토, among many others.
The Hanyang Paiknam Achievement Award was established to honor and carry forward the spirit of Hanyang University founder Paiknam Kim Yun-joon (1914–2008). A total prize of 150 million KRW is awarded to the laureates. The award ceremony will be held on October 16 at Hanyang University.
