Hanyang University (Lee Ki-jeong as President) announced that its rolling admission application for the 2026 academic year closed with 58,786 applicants for 1,897 available spots, resulting in a final competition rate of 30.99:1. Despite the continued decline in the school-age population, this outcome reflects the growing recognition and preference for Hanyang University among applicants.

<Reformation of Student Record-Based Admissions(Interview Type) – Introduction of Essay Interviews for College of Engineering and Hanyang Intercollege(Sciences)>

The Comprehensive Student Record(Interview Type) admissions newly included essay-based interviews for the College of Engineering and Hanyang Intercollege (Science), in addition to the traditional interview type for the College of Education. This drew significant attention from applicants. In the College of Engineering, 2,026 applicants competed for 71 spots across programs such as the Department of Electronic Engineering, Department of Computer Science, Department of Electrical and Biomedical Engineering, Department of Materials Science and Engineering, Department of Chemical Engineering, Department of Energy Engineering, Department of Mechanical Engineering, Department of Automotive Engineering, and Department of Data Science—resulting in a highly competition. For Intercollege(Sciences), 937 applicants competed for 20 spots, leading to a final ratio of 46.85:1.

<Pre-Med Essay Admissions – Revival After Four Years Drives Increased Competition>

The Essay Track received 30,157 applicants for 233 spots, recording an exceptional competition ratio of 129.43:1. Compared to the previous year's 28,019 applicants for 224 spots, there was a 4.35% increase. The reinstatement of the essay track for the Department of Pre-Medicine after its removal in 2022, was a key factor behind the rise. Notably, the Pre-med essay track drew a remarkable number of applicants,  2,298 for just 8 spots, marking an extraordinary ratio of 287.25:1 and signaling fierce competition among top-tier candidates.

Major admission schedules of Hanyang University are as follows: practical exams will take place on October 18(Sat), essay exams from November 22(Sat) to 23(Sun), and interview exams from November 29(Sat) to 30(Sun). The final admissions results will be announced on December 12(Fri).
