“We plan to gather Hanyang 토토사이트 돈받는법s’ opinions through various communication channels actively”
The 53rd General Student Council HY-R was officially elected on March 26 with 93.59% of votes in favor, out of a total turnout of 44.73%. We spoke with Student Council President Jung Moon-seo (Department of Urban Engineering, 4th year) and Vice President Lee Seung-ha (School of Data Science, 3rd year) about their thoughts on the election, future plans, and goals for the year ahead.
Congratulations on being elected as the 53rd General 토토사이트 돈받는법 Council. How do you feel?
Jung Moon-seo: I’m mostly filled with joy because we worked toward this goal for about three months with 60 campaign team members. Now, I want to responsibly repay the trust and support given by Hanyang students. Since we promised “practical change” throughout the campaign, I believe that fulfilling that promise is my current role. As I’ve been given a valuable opportunity, I will surely live up to expectations.
Lee Seung-ha: First, I want to thank all Hanyang students who supported and voted for us, and the 60 campaign team members who worked hard together. I especially want to thank President Jung Moon-seo, who was more dedicated than anyone during the campaign preparation. It wasn’t an easy election process, but the moment our win was confirmed, I was happier than anyone. I also felt excitement and responsibility about working for Hanyang students. We will do our best to become a student council worthy of your trust.
What led you to run in the 토토사이트 돈받는법 council election?
Jung Moon-seo: After entering university, I served as class representative, department student president, and Director of Public Relations for the Emergency Planning Committee (EPC). That was my first experience with the student council. Since it was under the EPC system, I was left with some regrets. As I continued my school life as an ordinary student, I experienced various inconveniences and questions arose. I thought, “It would be nice if someone stepped up to change this.” When I saw that there were no candidates in last year’s regular election, I decided I shouldn’t just wait—I needed to act. I proposed running to Vice President Lee Seung-ha, who had also worked on the EPC, and thankfully, he accepted. With that, we decided to run with the desire to create a school that Hanyang students would enjoy attending.
Lee Seung-ha: Since my first year, I’ve worked as a class representative and in the department student council. I also served in the 51st EPC, which helped me learn about university operations overall. While later focusing on my department and external activities, I received a proposal from President Jung Moon-seo this January and started thinking again about the role and necessity of a student council. I became convinced that a formal student council could bring better change for Hanyang students than an EPC system, and I decided to run.
What’s the meaning behind the name “HY-R”?
Jung Moon-seo: When looking at past student council names, many started with “HY.” We wanted to follow that trend but add a clever, layered meaning. That’s how we came up with “HY-R.” When spoken quickly, it sounds like “higher,” expressing our ambition to raise Hanyang to greater heights. Our slogan is also “Higher for Hanyang.” The “R” includes meanings like “rize,” “restart,” and the roar of a lion, all carrying positive connotations.
Could you introduce some of HY-R’s main pledges?
Jung Moon-seo: A representative pledge is “student startup support” under the academics and career category. We want to reduce the barriers students face in starting a business by collaborating with the Startup Support Center and provide practical assistance. Another major pledge in the culture and welfare area is revitalizing the “Rachios” and “Aehanje” festivals. LaCios already has strong branding, which we plan to strengthen, while Aehanje—being less well-known—will be further developed to enhance the diversity and quality of the festivals.
Lee Seung-ha: I’m focusing on pledges in the culture/welfare and facilities/environment areas. We’re preparing to revive rural volunteer programs that were conducted in the past, and we’ve already had some discussions with external organizations. We’re also planning overall facility inspections and repainting to address aging buildings and ensure safety. We’ll work to provide Hanyang students with a more pleasant and secure campus environment.
Which pledge are you most confident about, and how do you plan to implement it?
Jung Moon-seo: The pledge we can implement the fastest is “livestreaming the General Student Representative Assembly.” It was designed to help more Hanyang students easily access and participate in student governance. While the detailed plan wasn’t included in the campaign materials, we’ve already completed all preparations to livestream the April 12 assembly via YouTube, in collaboration with Hanyang University Broadcasting System (HUBS).
Lee Seung-ha: I think Hanyang University is particularly strong in entrepreneurship. That’s why we want to support student startups in partnership with the Startup Support Center. When we proposed that the student council assist with startup promotions, the Center responded positively, saying they could also help with evaluations and awards. This pledge is not only highly feasible but also directly helpful for students, so we’re most confident about it.
What was the most difficult moment during the election?
Jung Moon-seo: The biggest challenge was that we were running unopposed. With no competition, it was harder to make 토토사이트 돈받는법s aware of the election, and we had to prove both the necessity of the 토토사이트 돈받는법 council and our sincerity. We tried various methods, from online SNS promotion to offline photo booths, to raise awareness. We believed that sincerity would eventually be felt, and with the full effort of our campaign team, we were able to achieve a great result.
Lee Seung-ha: Because the General Student Council was under the EPC system for the past two years, there weren’t many references to rely on. We faced issues in producing and ordering promotional materials, and had to stay up late resolving them. Thanks to the dedication of the campaign team, we managed to finish everything smoothly.
Do you have specific plans to gather and reflect 토토사이트 돈받는법 opinions?
Jung Moon-seo: I think it’s important to create an environment where students feel comfortable sharing their opinions. Since students need access to information to form opinions, we’re planning content for information sharing and disclosure. We’re preparing card news to explain student governance terms in simple language and plan to publish meeting notes in video and short-form formats so more students can access them easily. We’ll also open a communication board and 1:1 inquiry board on the website to gather a wide range of opinions and have council members in charge of each field actively discuss implementation with school departments.
What is your final goal as 토토사이트 돈받는법 council leaders?
Jung Moon-seo: The biggest goal is to create a “student council that earns trust.” We don’t want this to end with just this year’s student council. We want it to continue with the 54th, 55th councils and beyond. We’ll focus on creating real change that helps Hanyang students believe that their campus life improved because of the student council.
Lee Seung-ha: The 50th General Student Council returned after about 4–5 years, but within a year and a half, we returned to the EPC system. I hope Hanyang students will recognize the need for a student council, so that the 54th and 55th councils can continue without interruption, and eventually reach the 60th student council.
Lastly, do you have a message for Hanyang 토토사이트 돈받는법s?
Jung Moon-seo: HY-R will fill our term with action and results, as we promised during the election. We’ll listen to Hanyang students and do our best to create changes everyone can feel. We’ll work quietly and steadily so the school becomes a space for students and Hanyang becomes something students can be proud of. We’d be grateful if you stayed with HY-R until the very end.
Lee Seung-ha: Even now, we are working hard to repay those who supported us. We’ll make sure the pledges we prepared continue and are maintained even after our term ends. Please support us as we work to make Hanyang University shine even brighter.
