Hanyang University(Lee Ki-jeong as President) has established a strategic cooperation system to strengthen global research capabilities and enhance brand value in partnership with alumni scholars currently serving at major universities in China. The university announced that it held the inaugural ceremony for the ‘Future Strategy Committee for Alumni in China’ in Shanghai on January 28, marking the official start of its activities.

This committee is the first milestone of the newly established ‘Overseas Alumni Pool Construction TF,’ which Hanyang University created to manage overseas alumni systematically and strategically. The committee is composed of professors and researchers from Hanyang University who are actively conducting research at local Chinese universities. As an advisory body, it will function as a ‘Brain Hub’ to strengthen the university’s global competitiveness. Notably, the Hanyang China Center played a pivotal role as a bridge during the member selection process, utilizing its local networks.

A total of 19 people, including 12 member professors and university officials, attended the inauguration ceremony held in Shanghai. During the event, an appointment ceremony was held, followed by the declaration of the committee’s vision and in-depth discussions regarding future operation plans.

Hanyang University intends to solidify its locally integrated alumni management system by using the China Center as a base, starting with this Shanghai launch. Furthermore, by modeling the achievements of this TF, the university plans to expand the ‘Overseas Alumni Strategic Model’ worldwide gradually, tailored to the characteristics of specific countries and regions.

Kim Youn-san, Vice President at the Office of Planning and Budget at Hanyang University, stated, “The launch of this committee is a new attempt to integrate the expertise of alumni researchers active abroad into the university’s growth. We expect this to be a strategic partnership that goes beyond simple social networking to foster practical research collaboration and enhance our global brand.”
