Hanyang University’s Industry-University Cooperation Foundation (Director Kang Young-jong) announced that it has been selected as a platform institution for the “2025 Creative Talent Program” organized by the Korea Creative Content Agency (KOCCA, Acting President Yoo Hyun-seok), and will hold an open lecture on July 16 at the Grand Lecture Hall of the Hongneung Content Human Resource Campus in Seoul.

Hanyang University’s “Into the Creation 2025” program is a creative talent cultivation initiative aimed at enhancing the creative capabilities of mentees through a master-apprentice-style mentoring system, involving eight top experts in musical scriptwriting and composition as mentors and sixteen mentees.

At this open lecture, Hanyang University mentors—playwright and director Sung Jong-wan and composer Shin Eun-kyung, both leading figures in Korea’s original musical scene—will take the stage. Under the theme “The Reality of Musical Creation,” they will share their experiences and practical know-how from the creative process in a talk concert-style format. Professor Kim Joon-hee from Hanyang University’s Department of Theater and Film will join as moderator, facilitating a richer discussion.

Mentor Sung Jong-wan is active as a musical playwright, director, and actor, and has established himself as a representative creator in Korea’s musical theater scene through works such as Death Song (script, direction), Night on the Galactic Railroad (script, lyrics, direction), Rimbaud (direction), and Maybe Happy Ending (actor).

Mentor Shin Eun-kyung is recognized for her versatile musicality across various genres as a composer and music director. Her credits include HOPE (music director, winner of the 4th Korea Musical Awards Music Director Award), Rogisu (composer), The Devil (music director), and Rimbaud (music director).

Meanwhile, starting this year, Hanyang University’s “Into the Creation 2025” program has launched new support for the commercialization of outstanding creative projects by program graduates. Through this, it plans to produce one full-scale musical, two showcases, and provide customized consulting from creation to business strategy, aiming to develop top-tier creative repertoires that will represent Korea’s musical theater scene.
