Kidari Bank: Korea's only self-help financial cooperative, run by college 실시간 해와 토토사이트
Kidari Bank is Korea's only self-help financial cooperative run by college students. They analyze the economic and financial issues that college students face, and they run various projects for economic independence. These projects can be further divided into two categories: fund management and social value creation.
Kidari Bank provides two types of funds that are accessible to all 실시간 해와 토토사이트 students who sign the membership: short-dari funds and fast funds. Short-dari funds allow students to borrow up to KRW 300,000, which has to be returned in a maximum of six months. Students can receive loans upon paper and online review after specifying the purpose, amount, payment plan, etc. on the loan application.
Sim Tae-bin (School of Economics and Finance, third year), Chairman of the Kidari Banks board of directors, revealed, "Based on the papers submitted, the loan application goes through the review from all Kidari Bank managements," adding "We review the application by judging whether it meets the criteria for appropriate payment plan according to their income and expenditure within six months, which is the maximum repayment period."
Once you go through the first round, you will be assigned to a worker who will conduct the second round of review, where your identification and application will be assessed in detail via Zoom, upon which you are given final approval. Fast Fund streamlines this process, allowing students to borrow up to KRW 150,000 for up to three months maximum. Under the Kidari Bank's goal of creating 실시간 해와 토토사이트 values, they are given out on the basis of autonomous interest.
The operation funds of Kidari Banks are financed by investments and the membership fee which is mandatory upon the membership in co-op. The minimum membership fee is KRW 10,000, and you can request a refund once you decide to leave the co-op. "We have over 450 co-op members ever since its inception," said Mr. Sim. "We databased the information of co-op members registered on their membership application."
On top of the fund, Kidari Bank organizes and offers various projects that create social values. So far, the bank successfully held "SamsiseKI," which offered discounts to members at four local shops near Hanyang University that partnered with the banks, and "Ki-bu running," which donated the participation fee upon the completion of the race where they protected environment by Plogging.
A notable project that the bank currently offers is Seoul Dong-haeng, organized by the Seoul Volunteer Center. Regarding Seoul Dong-haeng, Mr. Sim said, "It is a volunteer project with Hyundai Home Shopping that aims to raise awareness regarding ugly produce." He added, "We are currently in the making of fun and useful financial education content by improving financial education volunteer activity targeted towards young adults preparing for independence from last year."
Kidari Bank judges every new project on whether it can make the values of Kidari Bank better known and promote the happiness of co-op members. The projects that meet this criteria are then allocated to three respective departments–the Executive, the Operation, and the Financial Review Department. Regarding partnerships and collaborations, Mr. Sim commented, "The most important thing is the trust," adding "We contact each potential partner upon thorough preparation process such as visualizing previous past branding and achievement of Kidari Bank."
Mr. Sim, since taking the role of Chairman of the Kidari Bank board, oversees overall administrative works. The Board of the Kidari Bank oversees meetings where they discuss the vision and goals of the bank. Once the board decides to carry on a new project, it allocates the work to each department to efficiently carry out the task. In addition, the board reviews the projects developed by each department and can seek outside help to make sure everything goes smoothly.
Regarding the proudest moment as the chairman, Mr. Sim replied, "When we all said good jobs to each other after finishing challenging tasks." He said, "I am most proud that not only we are doing something that helps students but we can depend on each other and act as one team." He continued, "We are currently working on various projects with other partners so that our team members can learn many things when volunteering."
"As a college student, I deeply sympathize with some of the economic difficulties that college students can easily run into," said Mr. Sim who wishes to become a public servant who works for the public interest in the domain of economics. "I wish Kidari Bank to be a strong support like Kidari man for those in economic plight."
Mr. Sim concluded by promoting the work of Kidari Bank.
"There are some occasions in which we feel like it could have been better because people did not participate in it as much as we have prepared it. We will keep making projects that help students, so I hope to hear more from you guys."
SDG Ambassador: In charge of SDG activity at 실시간 해와 토토사이트 University
SDGs ambassador studies the UN's seventeen sustainable development goals by 2030 and promotes and archives SDG activities of Hanyang University. Every week studies 17 SDGs and 169 targets. Each team member chooses the top two goals of their interest which they further investigate and share with other team members in the form of PPT. Once the presenter delivers their presentation regarding the case or major issues of SDG targets, the members either discuss the issues or share insights and questions they might have,
Choi Seo-yoon (School of International Studies, third year), who is the president of SDGs ambassador, said, "We can effectively comprehend vast details of SDGs through these activities and share opinions with people with different backgrounds and knowledge," adding "I get to learn to think from different perspectives upon each session and it's meaningful as I can to have a broader view on the topic."
In addition, the SDGs ambassador promotes the SDG work of Hanyang University by holding a club booth at RACHIOS, the spring festival of Hanyang University Seoul, or by collaborating in running a promotion booth for the Department of Social Innovation. Regarding the most memorable moments as the SDGs ambassador, Ms. Choi picked running the club booth. "We ran a club booth where we had students match the symbol with each of seventeen SDGs," said Mr. Choi. "We were proud to witness students having fun while answering the quizzes and showing their interest in SDGs."
The ambassadors want to share 17 SDGs and their spirit by attending the Seventeen Hearts Festival at Hanyang University each year. Ms. Choi described the Seventeen Hearts Festival as a "time where we and changemakers who work hard to achieve SDGs can share our experiences and raise awareness of it," and she added, "We mean to attend this year's event to publicize SDGs."
SDG ambassadors went through articles related to Hanyang University from the official website of the Global Social Innovation Foundation of Hanyang University or News H to separate them into SDGs and targets. You can find the assorted information from the page titled "HYU SDGs Declaration and Actions" on the official website of the Global Social Innovation Foundation of Hanyang University. On top of these, members took part in contests and extracurricular activities related to SDGs. "Last semester, together with members who wish to join the contest, we entered and made it to the preliminary round of the contest, Hanyang University Future College Tomorrow Solution."
Regarding their plan for this semester, she revealed, "On top of the regular group studies, we plan to use the knowledge from these to either interview experts working to achieve each goal or conduct projects to find a way to practice the goals in everyday life," adding "We aim to draw out the details of our future plans according to our interests by applying theories into practice"
Ms. Choi, as the president for this semester, plans and carries out club activities for the semester with the vice president and board members. She develops activities by collecting opinions so that each member can share diverse interests regarding SDGs and foster broader perspectives.
Ms. Choi, who chose the Major in Social Innovation as her second major, found and applied for SDG ambassadors while she was looking for opportunities to learn more about SDGs and social innovations and share ideas with like-minded people. "I got to broaden my perspective and strengthen my interest in this area after working with the members with different thoughts and knowledge for the past one semester," said Ms. Choi who participated as a member the last semester. "I decided to take over the position of president to help meaningful activities of the members because I felt my experiences owed to the board members who led the group with excellence."
Regarding the most challenging moment as the SDGs ambassador, Ms. Choi replied, "During my first study session, I couldn't speak up like other students who could freely share their thoughts or knowledge," adding, "That experience made me think that I have a lot of room to grow." She continued, "After that, I tried to ease my burden and realized that it doesn't take groundbreaking knowledge to talk at the study," adding, "After learning that I could simply share my experience or thoughts, I got to enjoy each moment more."
SDGs ambassador draws attention from the university to SDGs. What's closely related to SDGs are the founding philosophy of Hanyang University, Love in Deed and Truth, and the university's conception of ideal leaders who practice what they've learned in society. "If you detail out the practice for a better society, you will find SDGs," said Ms. Choi. "There is a reason for every Hanyang student to pay more attention to SDGs." She continued, "We are working to draw more attention from people who are already invested in SDGs by communicating with them and to attract new attention by running various activities related to SDGs for other students as well."
Ms. Choi concluded by sharing the meaning of social contribution and the work of the SDGs ambassador.
"I am proud to be a member of Hanyang University who actively thinks about ways to contribute to society, so I tried to continue my attention to it. If you can have pride and interest in this, I am sure that you can have more value on top of your college life.
We accept applications for new members until Wednesday, September 11, so I recommend to join us by being a part of the SDGs ambassadors."
Socion: 실시간 해와 토토사이트 innovation through business projects
Socion is a 실시간 해와 토토사이트 innovation business club that aims to solve 실시간 해와 토토사이트 issues by planning and practicing various business models based on 실시간 해와 토토사이트 business studies and understanding and sympathy regarding 실시간 해와 토토사이트 issues. It seeks a society where all businesses contribute to creating 실시간 해와 토토사이트 value along with financial value based on the free market economy.
They lead social innovation by balancing theory and action via practical projects based on theories and knowledge regarding social ventures. As of today, the group–consisting of three teams, the ESG team, the Barrier Free A team, and the Barrier Free B team–conducts projects to capture social issues and seek solutions via design thinking.
The ESG team carried out the "can lid upcycling project" to raise awareness of the importance of recycling aluminum cans. Upon recognizing that there aren't enough recycling bins designated for cans inside each building on the campus, Socion installed recycling bins for cans across the campus. They ran a booth where students could make heart-shaped key rings and necklaces using can lids that would otherwise thrown away.
President of Socionm, Kim Ji-young (Department of Sociology, third year) commented on the project: "The benefit may seem marginal right now, but it bolsters an awareness for recycling and inspires you to think of your own way of recycling." The ESG team also conducted a "banner upcycling project" to solve the issue of difficulties of recycling large quantities of banner waste inside the campus. The team strived to contribute to spreading the "zero waste" culture across the campus by collecting and upcycling waste banners into sun picnic blankets which Hanyang students could freely borrow whenever they needed them.
The Barrier Free A team, a team focusing on people with disabilities, ran a booth to introduce social ventures like Thisabled, Muui, Autistar, and Hisbeans which are actively carrying out barrier-free projects. The team took on this project with the recognition that more support and public attention are required for awareness of disabilities and their communities. Moreover, Ms. Kim remarked, "Anyone could be in a situation where you are blocked by barriers, and we need more people who care about barrier-free businesses."
In addition, the Barrier Free A team made leaflet maps called "Barrier Free Map Hanyang." The team investigated routes and buildings around Hanyang University and Wangsimni on foot to check features like slopes, bumps, automatic doors, and others to tell desirable routes apart from bad ones for students with disabilities. Mr. Kim revealed their plan by saying, "During the fall semester, we aim to partner with Muui to expand the Barrier Free Map Hanyang to businesses in Wangsimni."
The Barrier Free B team, through a program called the "Seoul Youth Volunteer," participated in volunteering by educating elderly people and others about topics like how to use Kiosks or the danger of voice phishing. "Social innovation puts heavy emphasis on studying as one needs to recognize issues and change or improve something from a new perspective," said Ms. Kim. "All three teams expand their studies each time to think about what to improve." Socion often investigates and studies social ventures or conducts competitive presentations after learning SDGs, business models, and impact blueprints.
Socion conducts activities where students can use their creativity. They look into social issues less known to the general population and introduce the definition of the problem or solutions to fellow students. Ms. Kim revealed the meaning of Socion: "Social innovation starts when you change the subtle way you look at everyday phenomena."
"We were so focused on having teams to carry out projects so there hasn't been ample communication between each team," she continued. "It is equally important for teams to dive deep inside a particular issue, but this semester, we will also invite Professors in relevant fields to remind ourselves of the meaning of social innovation."
Ms. Kim concluded by promoting Socion along with the meaning of 실시간 해와 토토사이트 innovation.
"Social innovation may be a new concept to you, and you might question if students can make one. Trying new things and facing different opinions inside a team may wear you out, but I think they are natural. I think we, whether consciously or unconsciously, all strive for the better. Issues and solutions, as long as the issues remain, are not the true solution.
If you are the type of someone who questions these types of things and thinks new things, Socion will be the right place for you. I want you to discuss better ways with your team members, make it known to others by putting them into practice through projects, and feel the joy of businesses that help others."
