The 2025 Samsung Electronics T&C Forum was held at Hanyang University’s Hanyang Institute of Technology (HIT) on July 14. The event featured a wide range of programs including recruitment briefings for semiconductor positions, talks from current Samsung employees, 1:1 career consultations, and tech lectures—drawing a large crowd of students throughout the day.

The forum’s main session opened with People Talk, a presentation introducing the Samsung Electronics DS Division. Kim Chang-yong, Head of Talent Acquisition at Samsung Electronics, remarked, “Technology is at the heart of Samsung Semiconductor’s competitiveness, and talent is the source of that technology.” He added, “We’ve designed our systems to ensure the best people achieve the best results, grounded in the values of challenge, respect, and growth.” Kim emphasized Samsung’s support for technology-centered career development, citing the Distinguished Engineer (DE) system as an example.

Kim also highlighted the strong connection between Samsung and Hanyang University, stating, “There are around 3,900 Hanyang University alumni currently working in the DS Division—more than from any other university in Korea. That’s why Hanyang is often called the engine of Korea.”

The LIVE Q&A session featured current employees from Samsung’s DS Division, who shared their first-hand experiences in the semiconductor field. Jung Woo-je, a researcher at the Samsung Semiconductor R&D Center, said, “The problem-solving mindset and critical thinking I developed during my graduate studies have helped me tremendously. I also feel that I continue to grow within the collaborative culture at Samsung.”

Dr. Song Seung-won reflected on his transition from academia to industry: “As a PhD student, I felt a gap between research and mass production. But seeing technologies actually applied to products is incredibly rewarding.” Regarding mistakes and adaptation, he said, “There’s a culture of viewing mistakes as stepping stones for growth, and I was able to overcome challenges thanks to guidance from colleagues and a culture of collaboration.”

Kim concluded with advice for students contemplating their careers: “Define for yourself what kind of person you want to become, and what makes you truly happy—then draw your own roadmap. Talent is technology, and you are at the center of it.”
