Hanyang University (President Lee Ki-jeong) announced on the 30th that the “Global Sensory-Immune Research Center” (hereinafter referred to as the Center), led by Professor Choi Jae-min from the Department of Life Science, College of Natural Sciences, has been finally selected for the “Science Research Center (SRC) Support Program” hosted by the National Research Foundation of Korea and the Ministry of Science and ICT.
Through this SRC selection, the Center will receive more than KRW 11.5 billion in 토토사이트 사라짐 funding over the next seven years. As a large-scale global 토토사이트 사라짐 project aimed at elucidating the connections between sensory signals and immune responses, this initiative is expected to accelerate interdisciplinary convergence 토토사이트 사라짐 to secure core technologies in the neuro-immune field.
The Center will collaborate with over 14 international research institutions across more than 10 countries, including Stanford University, Harvard University, Brown University, Yale University, and UC San Diego in the United States; the Max Planck Institute and Leibniz Institute of Photonic Technology (IPHT) in Germany; Université Côte d’Azur in France; and Kyoto University in Japan. Domestic partners will include major universities and institutions such as Seoul National University, KAIST, and Seoul National University Hospital.
Under Professor Choi’s leadership, the Center plans to identify the presence and functions of immune cells that respond to changes in sensory signals and clarify the regulatory mechanisms of the “sensory-tissue-immune axis,” ultimately leading to the discovery of new disease mechanisms and therapeutic targets.
The Center also has an ambitious long-term goal: to establish itself as a global hub for neuro-immune 토토사이트 사라짐 while focusing on developing core technologies that contribute to creating new treatment strategies for degenerative brain diseases, inflammatory diseases, and other conditions.
Professor Choi stated, “Based on a multidisciplinary and international research network, we will do our utmost to secure world-class core technologies that can solve major challenges in the neuro-immune field. Through convergence and academic boundary expansion, we aim to strengthen global scientific leadership and grow into a research center with world-class competitiveness in advanced bio-science.”
Meanwhile, Professor Choi Jae-min currently serves as vice director of the HY Institute of Bio-Science and Biotechnology (HY-IBB), a specialized research institute established to strengthen collective convergence research in national research policy and Hanyang University’s future strategy. He plans to further enhance the Center’s competitiveness through close collaboration with researchers at HY-IBB.
