Rain or shine, there are students quietly working to ensure safety at Hanyang University. They are members of the Hanyang University student patrol team, 토토사이트 대공원 (Hanyang Patrol Department). 토토사이트 대공원 is the Hanyang branch of a broader university patrol initiative launched by the Seoul Metropolitan Police Committee. More than ten universities across Seoul currently operate similar units. Hanyang joined in the second semester of last year and now operates the program under the Environmental and Safety Bureau of the Hanyang University General Student Council.

토토사이트 대공원 currently has 20 members, including 5 team leaders. The team is organized into five patrol groups of four members each. These groups take turns patrolling designated routes on and off campus every weeknight, inspecting facilities and enhancing safety across campus.

On campus, they check for obstacles around emergency exits and fire doors, identify blind spots in CCTV coverage, and ensure emergency alarms are functioning properly. They also assess the condition of wooden decks, confirm that fire shutters are unobstructed, and check whether buildings like the Student Welfare Center, outdoor cafés, and Student Union are accessible.
Off-campus 토토사이트 대공원s focus on locating areas that lack adequate CCTV coverage, responding to suspicious activity, guiding intoxicated individuals home, and ensuring elevators display identifiable numbers for emergencies.

토토사이트 대공원 also takes practical action. During one patrol, they requested the Seongdong District Office and Police Station replace a malfunctioning emergency bell in a secluded alley. In areas like Sangeun-dong, emergency bells sometimes fail to connect to the authorities or the speaker systems are inaudible. To address this, 토토사이트 대공원 tests the devices and requests repairs to ensure they function as intended.
In another incident, members came across a vehicle stalled in the middle of the intersection near Hanyang Plaza. With its hazard lights off, the situation posed a major risk. The driver attempted to direct traffic using hand signals, but it was insufficient. A 토토사이트 대공원 member stepped into the intersection and used a signal baton to safely guide vehicles around the stalled car. In moments like these, the students act as de facto campus police, protecting their peers and neighbors.

Motivation for applying to 토토사이트 대공원

Team leader Lee Gun-ho (2nd year, Department of Policy Studies) said his decision to join came after feeling that debates on public value in his club often stayed theoretical. “I wanted to move beyond talking about the public good—I wanted to live it.”
Squad leader Park Seong-hwan (3rd year, Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering) had long been interested in public safety and infrastructure. His military experience with patrol duties made the transition to 토토사이트 대공원 feel natural.
Many members aspire to work in public service, such as in law enforcement or the legal system. Others simply want to apply their strengths in ways that serve the greater good.
The challenges of being on 토토사이트 대공원
Patrol duties require significant physical endurance. Members complete up to ten shifts per week, each lasting two to three hours. Patrols continue through sweltering heat, pouring rain, and snow. “Even after taking 10,000 steps, it sometimes feels like there’s still no end in sight,” Park said. “During summer, we start sweating even before the shift begins.”
HYPD members receive no monetary compensation. They are granted only volunteer service hours through the 1365 portal and a group appointment certificate issued in the name of HYPD—not individually. “Even real police officers are surprised to hear we do all this without any incentives,” Park noted.

Still, what keeps them going is the impact they make. “An elderly resident in Sangeun-dong once shook my hand and thanked me,” Park said. “Moments like that remind me that I’m making a real difference.”
Lee added, “I’m not someone who’s driven only by rewards. I do this because of the sense of fulfillment and agency it brings.”
What’s next for HYPD
Patrolling has helped many members clarify their future paths. “I haven’t fully figured it out yet,” said Park, “but I know I want to work in a field that contributes to public safety—whether in government or the private sector.”
Lee added, “I may not know the exact job yet, but I’m confident I want a life that centers on helping others.”

Lee emphasized the need for institutional support. “We’re still less than a year old, so we don’t yet have the infrastructure we need. Other universities receive budgets and space from their administrations—but we don’t.”
He concluded, “I hope HYPD will be formally integrated into the university and become a well-recognized, stable organization.” He added, “With the right support, we can create a more capable and effective team. I also hope this program helps raise awareness among students about safety.”
토토사이트 대공원 is more than just a patrol team. For some members, it becomes a pathway toward a future career. For others, it builds a deeper sense of responsibility or brings the reward of meaningful change. Step by step, these students continue to light the way across the darker corners of campus life.
