The Seoul Campus to receive KRW 19.5 billion, ERICA KRW 20 billion—projects to support global industry cooperation and regional innovation

Hanyang University’s Seoul and ERICA campuses have both been selected for Korea’s RISE (Regional Innovation System for Education) project, a milestone that underscores the institution’s commitment to regional and global development.

The RISE initiative is a government policy aimed at encouraging regional innovation by delegating financial and administrative authority for university support to local governments. Under this framework, the Seoul Campus will partner with the Seoul Metropolitan Government, while the ERICA Campus will work with Gyeonggi Province.

The Seoul Campus has been tasked with three core initiatives: leading global industry-university cooperation, attracting international talent in high-tech industries, and revitalizing the industry-academic ecosystem. It will receive KRW 19.5 billion over five years (KRW 3.9 billion annually) from the national budget. Among the 35 universities selected in the Seoul region, Hanyang ranked third in terms of project funding—following Sungkyunkwan University and Seoul National University.

Meanwhile, the ERICA Campus has been selected under the “Future Growth Industry Leadership” category and is set to receive KRW 20 billion over five years (KRW 4 billion annualy), further strengthening its role as a regional innovation hub.
