Hanyang University (President Lee Ki-jeong) announced on August 6 that its baseball team had claimed the championship title at the 80th National Collegiate Baseball Championship, held in Boeun, Chungcheongbuk-do from July 3 to 29.
Hosted and organized by the Korea University Baseball Federation and sponsored by Boeun County and the Boeun County Sports Council, the national-scale tournament featured a total of 124 games, with around 1,500 players and officials from 51 universities across the country participating.
The final game took place on Monday, July 29 at 10 a.m. at Boeun Sports Park Field A, where Hanyang University triumphed over Yonsei University with a close score of 8 to 6 to secure the prestigious championship.
Hanyang players delivered standout performances throughout the tournament. Park Do-hyun was named Most Valuable Player (MVP), Lee Jun-hyeok received the Best Pitcher Award, Seo Jun-oh was recognized for Distinguished Contribution, and Lee Jong-hwan earned the Stolen Base Award. Head coach Kim Gi-deok was honored with the Coach’s Award, and President Lee Ki-jeong received a Special Recognition Award.
Coach Kim Gi-deok expressed his appreciation, saying, “Boeun County provides an excellent environment and stable tournament operations every year, enabling players to perform at their best. Every athlete gave it their all, and that dedication led to this meaningful victory.”
Following this win, Hanyang University plans to further support the development of collegiate sports and the growth of student-athletes, while continuing to promote a vibrant university culture that harmonizes academics and athletics.
