The Department of Communication Design at Hanyang University ERICA’s College of Design (Department Chair: Jung Eui-tay) announced the successful completion of a hands-on design project conducted in collaboration with Yungjin Pharmaceutical Co., Ltd., under the theme of “Developing a Children’s Health Supplement Brand.”
The project was integrated into the “Visual Identity Design” course during the first semester of the 2025 academic year as part of the IC-PBL M-Type (Industry-University Cooperation) curriculum. Students engaged in project-based learning by tackling real-world business assignments. The course resulted in a variety of creative and market-relevant design outcomes, and a total of 13 students were recognized through a professional evaluation conducted by Yungjin Pharmaceutical. The winners included two grand prize recipients, two excellence awardees, two merit awardees, and seven honorable mentions. A total of KRW 5 million in scholarship funds—donated by Yungjin Pharmaceutical—was distributed to the winners, turning this collaborative project into a tangible achievement for the participants.
Professor Lee Bog-young of the Department of Communication Design, who led the course, remarked, “The ability to offer real-world connected education each semester through IC-PBL was made possible by the active support of both the university and our corporate partner. I’m especially grateful to Yungjin Pharmaceutical for providing scholarships that held true meaning for our students.”
Kah Jung-yi, a 4th-year student in the Department of Communication Design and one of the grand prize recipients, reflected, “This was a valuable experience that taught me how important it is to consider user psychology and needs when designing packaging.”
Hanyang University ERICA plans to continue enhancing the quality of education through industry-university collaborations, and to further expand programs that boost students’ practical skills and creativity.
