expanding from financial and legal education for self-reliant youth to collaboration on the KDIC Academy
Hanyang University School of 더블유 토토 (Dean Wi Gye-chan) announced that it signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with the Korea Deposit Insurance Corporation (KDIC, President Yoo Jae-hoon) on July 2 at the Seoul Campus School of 더블유 토토, to promote community cooperation and social contribution activities.
This agreement was pursued with the aim of fulfilling sustainable social responsibility and realizing social value through mutual cooperation between the two institutions. Professor Park Sun-ah, director of the School of Law’s affiliated Legal Clinic Center, oversaw the practical negotiations with the KDIC.
The two institutions will work closely together in major areas, including ▲ financial and legal education cooperation for self-reliant youth preparing for independence ▲ joint financial education and legal counseling programs for vulnerable groups ▲ collaboration and support for the KDIC Academy (focused on bankruptcy and rehabilitation).
Following this agreement, Hanyang University School of Law and KDIC plan to hold experiential cultural activities and financial and legal education programs for self-reliant youth from childcare facilities over three days from August 18. These activities will be operated through “Three-Wheeled Bicycle,” a student-led public interest legal education program under the Legal Clinic Center. In addition, the collaboration will expand to include pre-internship programs based on university-industry cooperation, recruitment briefings, and KDIC field visits.
Dean Wi Gye-chan stated, “This agreement aligns with Hanyang Law School’s mission to nurture excellent legal professionals dedicated to human rights and the public good,” adding, “We will continue practical cooperation so that students can grow into talents who serve society and humanity.”
Director Moon Hyung-uk of KDIC commented, “We have high expectations for this collaboration with Hanyang Law School,” and added, “We will do our utmost to spread sustainable management practices and fulfill social responsibility together.”
Hanyang University School of 더블유 토토, originating from Hanyang 더블유 토토 School founded in 1959, has produced over 1,200 legal professionals, including Supreme Court justices. In 2021, it ranked third nationwide by producing ten new judicial researchers. In 2025, at the 16th Gain Moot Court Competition, it achieved notable results, winning the Gain Award (grand prize) in the criminal division, individual best oralist award, excellence award, and several awards in the civil division.
The Hanyang Legal Clinic Center, an affiliated public interest legal center, provides law students with opportunities to engage directly in counseling and litigation practices, handling public interest cases to gain on-site experience and build practical skills. Among its initiatives, “Three-Wheeled Bicycle” is a representative public interest program providing legal education and support for youth leaving childcare facilities, helping future legal professionals realize the warm role of law in society.
