Hanyang University professor Choi Jung-wook of Fusion Electronic Engineering and his team recently won the '2020 AI Grand Challenge' 4th competition, 2nd level. The competition was held by the Ministry of Science and ICT.
The AI Grand Challenge was the first R&D research competition organized in 2019, which aims to compete and solve problems that are difficult and have a high social ripple effect. For award-winning teams, an additional research fee is provided, and professor Choi's research team will receive around 76 million won.
Professor Choi's research team, composed of researchers from Hanyang University and Seoul National University, participated in the 'AI Model Optimization and Lightening' track that minimizes the size and computational time of AI models while maintaining the accuracy level of AI models. The research team has been recognized for its technological skills by implementing a fast but lightweight deep learning model that recognizes people in videos with FHD resolution. The research team will also participate in the third phase of the competition scheduled for October.
