There are worlds that theory alone cannot reveal—ones discovered only through hands-on experiences outside the classroom. One of the most immersive among these is working in a research lab. Yet for many students, labs remain an unfamiliar concept. Few know exactly what goes on inside, how to get involved, or what changes once you do.

At Hanyang University, students across disciplines are exploring research 토토사이트 러쉬s in their own ways. We spoke to Im Mi-jung (Department of Media and Communication, 3rd year), and two students from the School of Data Science, majoring in Cognitive Neuroscience (A, 4th year; B, 4th year), to hear what 토토사이트 러쉬 life is really like.

Learning Social Innovation through 토토사이트 러쉬 Work

Im, who is double-majoring in Social Innovation alongside Media and Communication, participated in the fifth cohort of the Social Innovation Business 토토사이트 러쉬. This 토토사이트 러쉬 is responsible for planning and executing the promotional strategy for the Korean edition of the academic journal Stanford Social Innovation Review (SSIR).

What led you to apply?

I first learned about the lab through a social media post when I began my Social Innovation major. I’ve always been interested in both social innovation and business, and I wanted to apply the marketing skills I’d acquired in class through hands-on experience. The fact that the lab counted for 9 major credits also appealed to me.

What were your main responsibilities?

Our primary task was to design and implement the promotional strategy for SSIR. We started with a study session to understand SSIR’s values and direction. Based on that, we planned and held two colloquiums. Because the social innovation community fosters a horizontal culture, we shared ideas freely with teammates, Center staff, and professors, distributing tasks flexibly as needed.

How was it different from your regular courses?

What stood out most was being immersed in the 토토사이트 러쉬 twice a week from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Unlike typical courses, we received continuous practical feedback and advice from professors and staff, which deepened our learning. We also engaged with professionals in the field, making our projects more realistic and impactful.

What was it like working with professors?

Professors and staff acted more as mentors than supervisors. Our team planned and executed the project independently. We had a separate meeting space, which made it feel like a student-led initiative.

What was your biggest takeaway?

Experiencing the depth of SSIR content firsthand was eye-opening. Even after the project ended, I continued reading related articles out of genuine interest.

How did the 토토사이트 러쉬 influence your career exploration?

Most of our classes are theoretical, and media-related practical work tends to focus on broadcasting or journalism, so I was eager for real-world marketing experience. The lab filled that gap. It also helped me clarify my career path in marketing and gave me insight into Korea’s social innovation ecosystem through interviews and collaboration.

Were there any benefits to participating in the 토토사이트 러쉬?

Previously, students received scholarships, but now project-related expenses are reimbursed. One special feature of the Social Innovation Business Lab is that the snack pantry is always stocked! Breakfast is also provided, and the professor often treated us to meals. You earn 9 credits in the business major, but depending on the lab’s focus, it can also count toward other majors like social innovation.

Any advice for humanities students considering 토토사이트 러쉬 work?

If you find a business 토토사이트 러쉬 aligned with your interests, it could become one of the most memorable parts of your college life. For me, it was the most meaningful and fulfilling experience. I encourage everyone to try it!

Becoming a Researcher—Even as an Undergraduate

We also met A and B, who have worked in the Computational Cognition & Development 토토사이트 러쉬, which studies human cognitive modeling. The 토토사이트 러쉬 primarily conducts experiments and analyzes data, with regular sessions to review and discuss academic papers. A has been in the 토토사이트 러쉬 for six months, while B has participated for three years.

What led you to apply?

A: After developing an interest in cognitive science in a third-year class, I saw a research assistant recruitment post and applied after meeting with the professor.

B: I became curious about labs after seeing peers working as research assistants in my first year. In my second year, I discussed it with a professor and was invited to join.

What were your responsibilities?

A: I took part in ongoing lab experiments and supported operations like managing lab equipment, preparing materials, and maintaining the experiment space.

B: Over three years, I worked on various projects—coding behavioral experiments, conducting eye-tracking studies, and analyzing data for papers. I also led a weekly paper study group that deepened my interest in cognitive science.

How is 토토사이트 러쉬 work different from classes or certifications?

A: Unlike classes or certifications with clear goals and answers, lab work involves open-ended exploration. We learn by reading papers, researching independently, and asking professors or grad students for guidance. It requires a more active, inquisitive approach.

B: Research isn’t just about acquiring knowledge—it’s about solving real problems. Lab work lets you experience what research really involves, how it’s conducted, and what skills it requires. “With guidance from the professor, we were able to take part in research projects in a professional and structured manner. For undergraduate students, this not only helps build technical skills, but also offers a rare opportunity to engage in real academic inquiry. That’s what makes it such a special experience.”

What challenges or surprises did you face as an undergrad researcher?

A: Since there’s no fixed curriculum, I had to take initiative to learn and contribute.

B: Unlike course projects, real research with professors comes with more responsibility. “Over the three years I spent conducting experiments and processing data, there were many moments of frustration due to mistakes I made. But each of those experiences became a valuable lesson and, in hindsight, served as the foundation for my growth as a researcher.”

What have you learned from your interactions with professors or graduate students?

A: At first, I felt a bit distant from the professor. But as I began interacting more naturally through lab activities, I came to see the professor as a reliable mentor—someone who was willing to engage with us and support our work as collaborators.

B: I learned that research is not a solitary endeavor, but a collaborative and communicative process. Sharing information and offering help with fellow undergraduates and graduate students allowed me to grow both personally and academically.

Are there any benefits provided to undergraduate students participating in 토토사이트 러쉬 activities?

A: It varies depending on the lab’s nature and circumstances, but one clear benefit is the opportunity to be involved in academic paper writing. I strongly recommend getting a good understanding of the lab’s environment, size, and the role of undergraduate researchers before applying.

B: If you stay committed, you may have the chance to contribute to research papers even as an undergraduate. This experience can help build your academic portfolio. For those preparing for graduate school, writing a paper and presenting at a conference can be a significant asset.

How do you think this experience could connect to your future career path?

A: If you’re considering graduate school, lab experience can be a huge advantage. You get to see firsthand how experiments and data analysis are conducted and receive career guidance directly from professors and graduate students. Even if you’re thinking about joining a corporate research institute, this kind of experience can be highly meaningful.

B: I believe there’s no better preparation for graduate school than working in a lab. Through real-world research, you can clearly identify your field of interest. Personally, this experience helped me define my academic direction with confidence.

Any advice for underclassmen in the sciences considering 토토사이트 러쉬 or project-based work?

A: If you’re torn between grad school and entering the workforce, I think it’s more important to gain broad experiences than to focus solely on building your résumé. If you have the time, try working in different lab environments to explore what suits you best. Even if you haven’t made a firm career decision yet, this kind of experience is well worth pursuing.

B: If you have even a small interest in a particular field and there’s a lab working in that area, don’t hesitate—reach out to the professor and ask. A lab is a place for learning. Don’t let fears about your skill level or lack of knowledge stop you. Just take the leap and give it a try!
