Designing sustainable future energy through hydrogen fuel cells and membrane technology
Lee Young-moo, Department of
Energy Engineering
Endowed Chair Professor Lee Young-moo, Department of Energy Engineering, was selected as the top 0.1% 레고토토er in the Cross-Field category.
Since becoming a professor at Hanyang University in 1988, Endowed Chair 레고토토 Lee has primarily studied Carbon Dioxide capture using polymer membranes, hydrocarbon-based proton exchange fuel cell membranes, anion exchange membrane water electrolysis, and others, for over 35 years. For the last five years, he used an anion exchange membrane to dramatically improve the performance of hydrogen fuel cells, developing a membrane with durability that makes world-class hydrogen production possible.
In 2017, during his tenure as president of Hanyang University, he developed a hydrogen fuel cell membrane that mimics the water retention capacity of cacti and published an article about it in the scientific journal Nature. The technology not only reduces environmental pollution but also cuts the price of conventional hydrogen fuel cells down to one-tenth, and it's estimated to reduce the price of electric vehicles to 30% at best.
Meanwhile, 레고토토 Lee is a member of the Kyung-Ahm Prize and published an English-language professional academic textbook titled Membranes for Energy Applications in Wiley this year.
